The Role
Square, Inc. is looking for a Senior Program Manager for Abuse to join our Fraud Risk Policy team. You will be responsible for abuse risk management across the Square ecosystem. You will define risk strategies for detection, system controls, and operational implementation across Square's communications capabilities. You will demonstrate a high degree of empathy for the businesses and people we serve, and bring creativity and structure to our risk management practices.
This role can be performed remotely from any location in the continental US.
You Will
  • Develop and implement comprehensive abuse risk strategies that enable sellers to grow with Square while balancing controls that protect Square's infrastructure
  • Be a leader in shaping how we govern abuse risk across our products
  • Build a roadmap for abuse mitigation across the Square ecosystem that aligns with our overall risk management framework
  • Be a subject matter expert in ecosystem abuse and communications risk
  • Share joint responsibility with directly responsible individuals in Machine Learning and Data Science for abuse risk management across the Square ecosystem
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations, Product Management, and Engineering teams to identify and implement control improvement opportunities
  • Define, review, and communicate strategy, key metrics, and project updates across a diverse stakeholder group
  • Use analytics to monitor performance and support policy changes
  • Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities

You Have
  • 8+ years experience in a project or program management role focused on risk management
  • Expertise in phishing and scam abuse risk management for SMS and email
  • Experience delivering risk management results as a leader of cross-functional product teams in a complex organization across many product surfaces
  • Ability to break down complex projects into manageable, interdependent deliverables
  • Ability to use data to identify problems, trends, and anomalies, and to make recommendations for new programs
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the proven ability to balance the needs of a high-growth business with risk and compliance requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make clear recommendations on a course of action
  • Experience with investigation and data-informed decision-making using tools such as SQL, Snowflake, and Looker

  • Experience in a project or program management role focused on risk management, ideally in the phishing & scam abuse or trust & safety space
  • Expertise in payments fraud, inauthentic accounts, and account takeovers
