Company Description

Property intelligence is reshaping how the world understands the built environment, and Nearmap is driving that. We put powerful aerial imagery, AI-driven analytics, and geospatial tools into the hands of the people who plan, build, insure, and govern the places we all live and work. Our technology turns property uncertainty into decisive action, and our culture brings out the best in the people who build it.

Job Description

What you’ll do

Reporting to the QA Manager, we're looking for a Senior QA Engineer to assist in leading our quality engineering efforts while acting as a hands-on technical QA Engineer for our manual and automation team. This role combines people and process leadership with deep, hands-on automation expertise across API, web, and desktop applications. You'll set the technical direction for test automation, mentor other QA engineers, and champion the use of AI-assisted tools to accelerate test design, maintenance, and coverage.

  • Provide both manual and QA automation and assist in mentoring a team of QA engineers, providing technical guidance, and code reviews
  • Set automation standards, frameworks, and best practices across the QA function
  • Plan and prioritize QA work in partnership with engineering and product leadership
  • Assist QA Manager to provide test strategy for new features and major releases, including risk assessment and coverage planning
  • Report on quality metrics, automation coverage, and release readiness to stakeholders
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex quality and testing issues
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for API, web UI, and Windows desktop applications
  • Develop and extend API test automation frameworks using Java and REST Assured
  • Write automation scripts and tooling in Python to support test execution, data setup, and reporting
  • Evaluate, integrate, and apply AI automation tools to improve test generation, maintenance, and self-healing capabilities
  • Use Claude AI to accelerate automation development, including generating test cases, refactoring test code, analyzing failures, and creating test documentation
  • Build and maintain CI/CD test pipelines within Azure DevOps, including test plans, pipelines, and release gates
  • Perform manual and exploratory testing where automation coverage is still developing
  • Triage test failures, distinguish flaky tests from genuine defects, and drive root-cause analysis

Qualifications

About you

  • You're a self-starter. You hit the ground running every single day - not because someone is pushing you, but because you genuinely love the thrill of the job. You set your sights on what needs to be done and go after it with purpose and conviction.
  • You're driven. Goals aren't just targets to you, they are commitments. When there's a finish line, you find a way to get there.
  • You're a creative problem solver. Challenges don't slow you down - they sharpen you. When you hit a roadblock, you get curious, look at things from a different angle, and find paths forward that others might not have considered.
  • You're a communicator. You know how to make ideas land. Whether you're crafting an email, commanding a call, or building a deck that tells a story - you communicate with clarity, confidence, and intention.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or relevant work experience
  • 8+ years of QA engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or senior QA role
  •  Strong hands-on experience with Java and REST Assured for API test automation
  • Experience using Claude AI (or similar LLM tools) to support automation development and testing workflows
  • Working proficiency in Python for scripting and tooling
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted or AI-driven automation tools in a testing context
  • Solid experience with API testing and automation (functional, contract, performance considerations)
  • Experience testing Windows desktop applications (UI automation frameworks such as WinAppDriver, Appium, or similar)
  • Experience with Web UI test automation (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (Test Plans, Pipelines, Boards, Repos)
  • Strong understanding of test strategy, risk-based testing, and quality metrics
  •  Excellent communication skills and experience mentoring or leading other QA engineers
