About the team

The Crypto team is at the forefront of Wealthsimple's expansion into decentralized finance, working to democratize access to crypto for millions of Canadians. We're a passionate group of crypto-native engineers and product experts building the next generation of crypto products. Our team combines Wealthsimple's commitment to simplicity and transparency with cutting-edge blockchain technology to create secure, user-friendly crypto experiences that put users in full control of their digital assets.

About the role

As a Senior Crypto Software Developer, you'll be instrumental in building Wealthsimple's crypto infrastructure from the ground up. You'll work at the intersection of traditional fintech and decentralized protocols, helping to bridge the gap between complex blockchain technology and intuitive user experiences. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape how over a million crypto clients interact with decentralized finance while maintaining Wealthsimple's high standards for security, reliability, and user experience.

What you'll do
  • Build and architect new crypto products that give users more control over their crypto assets.

  • Design and implement integrations with leading DEXs, DeFi protocols, and wallet providers.

  • Build stablecoin infrastructure and product experiences that make digital cash more useful across trading, transfers, and on-chain financial workflows.

  • Enhance our existing crypto offerings by expanding asset selection and improving product functionality.

  • Work with cutting-edge blockchain technology and contribute to the evolution of decentralized finance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless crypto experiences to over a million users.

  • Help establish technical standards and best practices for crypto development at Wealthsimple.

Skills you bring
  • Proven experience working in the crypto/blockchain industry with hands-on development experience

  • Deep familiarity with integrating DEXs, wallet providers, stablecoins and smart contract protocols

  • Strong understanding of blockchain fundamentals, including transaction mechanics, gas optimization, and security considerations

  • Experience with Ethereum and other major blockchain networks, including Layer 2 solutions

  • Working knowledge of smart contract development and interaction (EVM/SVM)

  • Knowledge of DeFi protocols, AMMs, and decentralized exchange mechanisms

  • Understanding of crypto security best practices, including key management and multi-signature implementations

  • Experience with Web3 libraries and tools (ethers.js, web3.js, etc.)

  • Solid background in full stack development with languages and frameworks like React, React Native, Ruby on Rails, Java, Kotlin, or Python

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate the rapidly evolving crypto landscape

  • Passion for decentralized finance and its potential to democratize financial services
