Position Summary

CVS Health Digital is looking for hands-on, passionate people who want to join a high energy and growing team to make a difference in customers’ lives and who want to be on the forefront of digital innovation that aims to reinvent what a health care company can be in the digital world. Currently, we are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer within our CVS Health PCW Engineering team.

This Back-End focused Engineer will work with the team to build high-quality, usable products for customers and stakeholders. You will help provide input to product roadmap, technical design, provide input for engineering practices, and lead product build using agile (Scrum, Agile) software development practices and create products from discovery and framing through iterative development and delivery.

This Senior Engineer will participate in feature refinement sessions with key stakeholders to ensure the specified needs are clearly articulated, gaps identified and propose adjustments as needed. You will also maintain a user-centered and business-as-priority approach in design perspective and practice while ensuring efficient, effective, and safe product development.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer with CVS, you will be a part of a team of engineers in developing elegant code, state-of-the-art customer experiences and build industry leading digital experiences by:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing digital solutions and systems, applying advanced technical expertise to architect and code software applications
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the overall technical direction and innovation of digital engineering projects
  • Developing applications/web services and cloud native apps using NodeJS, Java/J2EE, REST API, Spring Core, Spring MVC Framework, Spring Boot Framework, Spring Security and other tech stacks (Open source and proprietary)
  • Unit testing using framework such as Junit, Mockito, JBehave
  • Building and deploying services using as part of CI/CD process
  • Taking responsibility for end-to-end application delivery including coordination with required teams for production deployment
  • Continuously monitoring application health and KPIs, supporting triage of any production issues as and when needed
  • Being an advocate of security best practices, champion and support the importance of security within engineering, partnering with Digital and Enterprise security teams and digital product owners to ensure compliance

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience working with enterprise solution delivery in a large-scale distributed software design environment, in a J2EE development environment
  • 5+ years experience in Developing Java applications in Spring boot, Spring MVC
  • 5+ years of experience in Junit Framwork.
  • 3+ years working with APIs (GraphQL and REST) in microservices architectures
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure (GCP Preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience with databases (Postgres or similar)
  • 3+ years’ experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, or similar)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with pub/sub tools like Kafka or similar
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts; experience deploying services on GKE is a plus
  • Strong understanding of microservice best practices and distributed systems
  • Experience in Scrum/Agile development methodologies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with communication across multiple levels of an organization
  • Healthcare, Pharmacy or Retail domain experience preferred
  • AI/ML knowledge is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate needs strong leadership experience
  • Capability to mentor junior engineers
  • Ability to multi-task and rapid context switch between dynamic project priorities

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $185,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
