The Role

We are looking for a passionate engineer with a strong sense of ownership to lead the development of backend services for a new product on our New Markets team. You should enjoy working on 0–1 products and feel at home in a fast-paced, agile environment with complex problems to solve. In this role, you will collaborate closely with front-end engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to develop and maintain our backend services.

What You'll Do

  • Develop a scalable, high-performance, easy-to-use backend that enables the New Markets team to launch stellar products
  • Provide technical leadership and help raise the bar for the entire team
  • Choose the right technologies, set coding standards, conduct code reviews, and offer technical mentorship
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and leadership to plan and execute the product roadmap

Requirements

  • Technical Skills
  • 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer
  • Proficiency in Python-based backend development
  • Proficiency in SQL, preferably with SQLAlchemy
  • Non-Technical Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to articulate ideas and thoughts clearly
  • Strong product sense, with the ability to view problems from the user’s perspective
  • A strong sense of ownership; takes initiative to address issues when they arise
  • Strong mentorship skills
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Veeva will not provide sponsorship at this time

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes/EKS
  • Familiarity with OpenSearch
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL
  • Experience with web front-end or mobile app development

Compensation

  • Base pay: $120,000 - $280,000
  • The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
