Job Type: Full-time

Job Location: New York, NY; 4 Days In Office
Salary Range: $180,000.00 - $200,000 (on target earnings)

The Opportunity

As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for taking on a leading role on Kargo’s full-stack Ad Tech team. You will work on solving complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive value for advertisers, publishers, and users. We are building sustainable, reusable, and scalable codebases in an agile environment and are true believers of doing it right the first time. We want our engineers to be self-starters, eager learners, who will grow with our company.

You should be comfortable working alongside Engineering, Product, and Design teams to develop clean code. You will brainstorm innovative solutions, mentor junior developers, and play a key role in shaping the technical direction of our projects.

The Position:

    • Your experience working with multiple languages and frameworks helps you understand which is the right tool/language for whichever is the problem at hand.
    • You are a seasoned software engineer who writes clean and effective code.
    • You have a strong understanding of software design patterns and are able to clearly communicate guidelines and best practices that the whole team should follow.
    • You have experience working on both the front end and back end.
    • You have expert JavaScript and CSS skills and can solve tricky problems in creative and elegant ways.
    • You are expected to lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of full-stack applications.
    • You build and maintain scalable APIs, backend services, and frontend user interfaces.
    • You collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and implement technical requirements.
    • You are expected to be able to work with other team members to fix and deploy any bugs or features that come your way
    • You are expected to be the owner of multiple code bases, ensuring the architecture and code quality are upheld to our standards.
    • You optimize application performance for scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
    • You provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior team members.
    • You will identify and initiate investigations into new technologies, prototype and test solutions for product features, and design and validate production designs that deliver exceptional user experiences.
    • You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Qualifications

  • B.S or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience in full-stack roles.
  • Strong portfolio (i.e. Github) demonstrating past work experience.
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript and CSS
  • Proficiency in writing clean code in vanilla JavaScript (without relying on external frameworks such as React).
  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, including QA and deployment processes.
  • Experience with microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience reviewing other developers’ code and mentoring more junior developers.
  • Familiarity with the current technical capabilities and limitations of mobile devices and cross-platform development.
  • Ability to take a loosely defined idea from the brainstorming phase to production, including the architecture plan, development, and testing process.
  • A clean sense of design aesthetics and a natural propensity towards simplification over complication.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience with the Ad Tech industry: programmatic, creative/ad tags, Google Ad Manager, Prebid, etc.
