About Collectly

Collectly is a fast-growing healthcare technology startup working to modernize the U.S. healthcare financial experience through AI-driven automation. Every day, millions of patients and providers navigate a system weighed down by inefficiencies, administrative burden, and confusing billing processes. The result is more work for provider offices and more confusion and frustration for patients.

Collectly applies artificial intelligence to revenue cycle management (RCM) to automate workflows, streamline billing, and create clearer, more humane financial experiences for patients. Our work focuses on real, high-impact problems: accelerating cash flow for providers, reducing operational overhead, and improving patient interactions during critical non-clinical moments.
By simplifying billing and payment experiences, we help healthcare organizations focus on what matters most: delivering care.

We’re a hybrid team, with roots in Santa Monica and teammates distributed across the U.S. and Europe.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll join a small, talented team building Collectly’s core pre-service product. Our stack is Python-first, and we’re looking for engineers who are comfortable designing and evolving backend systems in Python. Experience with React is a strong plus, especially if you enjoy working across the stack to deliver polished, user-facing experiences. You'll collaborate closely with the founder, engineering leadership, product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ship high-quality, impactful features for healthcare providers and patients alike.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with the founder, product managers, designers, and engineers to design and build a high-impact product.
  • Build and ship critical features with intent, strong attention to detail, and a focus on long-term maintainability and scalability.
  • Own features end to end, from shaping requirements and implementation to testing, observability, deployment, and iteration in production.
  • Contribute to and help shape our engineering culture as the team grows.

About you:

  • You have 6+ years of experience building and operating complex web applications in production environments.
  • You have strong experience building backend systems, ideally in Python using frameworks like FastAPI or Flask. If your background is in a statically typed language (for example Go, Java, or C#), that’s great too. We value strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.
  • You’re comfortable working across the stack. Experience with React is a strong plus, especially if you enjoy building thoughtful, user-facing experiences.
  • You understand that velocity and quality aren’t opposites. When well done, they’re multiplicative.
  • You think in terms of outcomes, not just implementations. You care about solving real customer problems, even when the requirements aren’t perfectly defined.
  • You prefer pragmatic, well-reasoned solutions over theoretical perfection, and you know when “good and shipped” beats “perfect and late.
  • You’re comfortable owning features end-to-end, from vague ideas to production impact and iteration.

How We Work:

  • Start with a 1–2 week onboarding onsite in Los Angeles/Santa Monica with our CTO — travel and accommodations fully covered.
  • After onboarding, you’ll work remotely with the freedom and flexibility that comes with it.
  • Join a collaborative and supportive team that values high-quality code, continuous improvement, and having fun while doing meaningful work.

  • Note: At this time, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Perks and Benefits

  • Unlimited PTO: We believe in work-life balance and encourage you to recharge when you need it.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents, because your well-being matters to us.
  • Equity Opportunities: Share in our success with stock options - your hard work will drive our growth.
  • Retirement Planning Made Easy: Enjoy a 401(k) with a generous company match to secure your future.
  • Student Loan Support: We help lighten the load with contributions toward your student loans.
  • Base Compensation Range: $150,000 - $170,000 per year
