POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the web applications and services that power Storesight’s retail intelligence platform. As a senior member of the software development team, you will own significant areas of our product end to end—from architecture and implementation through deployment and ongoing reliability. You will set technical direction, raise the quality bar through code review and best practices, and mentor other engineers, all while remaining hands-on in a modern web tech stack. Success in this role requires deep technical expertise, strong ownership, and the ability to translate ambiguous business needs into well-engineered, production-ready solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Software Development

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-quality web applications and services that support Storesight’s business operations and product roadmap.
  • Lead the architecture and implementation of new features and systems, optimizing for performance, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot custom integrations, APIs, and applications across the full stack.
  • Research, evaluate, and resolve complex software and system problems, implementing durable fixes rather than quick patches.
  • Identify and address technical debt, and continuously improve engineering tooling, processes, and standards.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, helping them grow their skills and deliver high-quality work.
  • Drive code reviews, champion engineering best practices, and uphold a high standard of code quality across the team.
  • Contribute to technical planning, estimation, and prioritization to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Help define and document engineering standards, patterns, and architectural decisions.

Collaboration & Problem Solving

  • Work closely with product owners and other engineers to review and qualify business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, and test plans.
  • Partner across teams to translate ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Participate in programming, testing, and release activities for assigned projects.
  • Act as a senior troubleshooter for a variety of system problems, ensuring quick and efficient resolution of production issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Personal Attributes

  • Motivated and self-directed
  • Strong problem solver
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Team-minded with a collaborative mindset

Technical Skills

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping web applications.
  • Strong proficiency developing web front ends using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Vue.js (or a comparable modern framework), and related technologies.
  • Strong proficiency with backend technologies supporting a web tech stack, including relational databases and API design (experience with Python is a strong plus).
  • Proven experience designing scalable systems and architecting solutions for performance and reliability.
  • Solid experience working in a shared codebase with Git and modern development workflows (CI/CD, automated testing, code review).
  • Experience deploying and operating applications in a cloud environment.
  • Experience using Claude Code or other AI development tools (a plus).
  • Experience productizing AI pipelines (a plus).
  • A desire and willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a positive, problem-solving attitude.

Leadership Skills

  • Ability to mentor and inspire other engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities, driving accountability, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

BENEFITS

●     Health, dental, and vision insurance

●     Company-paid life insurance
