TiDB is an open-source, cloud-native, distributed SQL database designed for elastic scalability, high availability, and OLTP with real-time analytics. Built for modern applications, TiDB enables organizations to seamlessly scale their data infrastructure while maintaining strong consistency and robust performance. As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving adoption and success with TiDB. You will work directly with account sales teams, channel partners, and customers to understand their needs, strategize on how to best support them in their evaluation, and ultimately help them choose TiDB as their solution. Increasingly, this includes AI-native companies and enterprises deploying AI agent workloads, where TiDB serves as the foundational layer for agent memory, state, and real-time data access.This role blends deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to help customers achieve their goals while driving growth.
Responsibilities:- Educate prospects and customers on the capabilities and benefits of TiDB, articulating how it addresses business and technical challenges.
- Share best practices for integrating TiDB with various data sources and applications, including LLM-powered pipelines and agent orchestration frameworks.

- Guide customers through the design, deployment, and optimization of TiDB implementations across multiple functional areas of their organization.
- Lead and execute Proof of Concept (PoC) engagements, demonstrating TiDB’s capabilities in real-world scenarios, including AI agent memory, transactional state, and high-concurrency agent query patterns.
- Develop and present tailored architectural solutions, best practices, and industry-specific use cases, with a growing focus on AI-native and agent-driven architectures.
- Engage AI-native customers and enterprises building agent-powered applications, articulating TiDB’s unique value as the database layer for agent state, memory persistence, and fleet coordination.
- Provide technical input on RFPs and customer technical requirements.
- Create and develop technical champions in your accounts to drive deals and achieve a technical win.
- Work hands-on with customers to demonstrate and communicate the value of TiDB throughout the sales cycle, from demo to proof of concept to design and implementation.
- Develop and deliver presentations, demonstrations, and technical workshops to various audiences, including developers, architects, and C-level executives.
- Build and deliver AI-focused demos showcasing TiDB as the backbone for LLM-powered applications, autonomous agent pipelines, and multi-agent coordination systems.
- Generate high-quality technical content such as whitepapers, blog posts, webinars, and reference architectures including AI/agent-specific use case patterns.
- Stay at the cutting edge of distributed database technology and AI agent ecosystem trends, confidently presenting TiDB roadmap features, AI integrations, and functionality to customers and prospects.
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to continuously improve TiDB’s products and positioning, feeding field insights on AI use cases back into the product roadmap.
- Establish industry influence by contributing to technical discussions, organizing knowledge-sharing sessions, and engaging with the open-source community.
- Travel within the region (approximately 20-40%) as required for customer engagements.
- 5+ years of experience as a Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, Database Administrator, or Software Engineer with a focus on distributed systems, databases, or cloud computing.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in technical sales, pre-sales engineering, or customer-facing technical roles.
- Strong understanding of clustering technologies, terminology, and architectures.
- Operating Systems: Proficiency in Linux system administration.
- Networking: Understanding of network configuration and troubleshooting.
- Database Management: Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, or comparable technologies.
- Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Python, Golang, or Shell scripting, to automate deployment and management tasks.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities to convey technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
- Experience with AI tooling ecosystems such as Claude Code and Codex.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for customer success.
