Role: Senior SQL Database Administrator
Work location: Phoenix, AZ; Columbus, OH; Dallas, TX
Job Type: Contract 
Interview: Phone/Skype

Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior SQL Database Administrator with 10+ years of experience to manage, optimize, and support enterprise database platforms. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role, focused primarily on Azure SQL environments, with some exposure to AWS databases.

Required Skills & Experience
10+ years in IT, with 8+ years as a SQL DBA
Experience supporting enterprise, production‑scale databases

Technical Skills
Strong experience with Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server
Working knowledge of AWS RDS (SQL Server/Aurora)
HA/DR (Always On, Failover Groups), backup & recovery
Performance tuning and capacity planning
Database security and compliance

Nice to Have
Azure or SQL Server certifications
Experience in regulated or large enterprise environments

Key Responsibilities:
Administer and support Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs
Support AWS databases such as RDS (SQL Server/Aurora) in hybrid environments
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and restore strategies
Monitor and tune database performance; optimize queries and indexing
Implement database security, access controls, encryption, and auditing
Execute database upgrades, patching, migrations, and capacity planning
Automate routine DBA tasks using T‑SQL, PowerShell, or scripting tools
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root‑cause analysis
Maintain operational documentation and standards
Provide technical guidance as a senior IC"
