Virta Health is on a mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people. Current treatment approaches aren’t working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse their metabolic condition through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives. Join us on our mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people.

We are looking for a Senior Staff Product Manager to define and shape a personalized, motivating, and digital-first Virta experience that helps members start strong, achieve meaningful health outcomes and sustain long-term success. As one of Virta’s most senior individual-contributor product leaders, you will set strategy across the end-to-end member journey and guide investments spanning multiple teams and functions.

You will combine deep member empathy with data, experimentation and emerging AI capabilities to identify opportunities, resolve complex tradeoffs, and influence company-level priorities. Working across technology, clinical care, coaching, operations, and other cross-functional partners, you will create experiences that feel simple and cohesive to members despite the complexity behind them. This is an opportunity to define the future of consumer healthcare experiences while making a measurable difference in members’ lives.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive a multi-year product strategy and investment roadmap for Virta’s end-to-end member experience, aligning multiple teams and senior leaders around company-level goals for activation, engagement, retention and health outcomes.

  • Identify and shape Virta’s highest-leverage consumer product opportunities, using member insights, business priorities, clinical outcomes and market developments to influence portfolio-level investment decisions.

  • Establish a strategic approach to personalization and adaptive experiences, leveraging data, AI and behavioral insights to better support each member’s individual needs, context, and goals.

  • Develop a deep understanding of members’ emotional and functional needs, translating complex clinical and care-delivery experiences into intuitive, motivating and trusted consumer products.

  • Establish durable experimentation, measurement, and decision-making frameworks across the member lifecycle, enabling teams to learn quickly and make evidence-based product investments.

  • Translate an ambitious vision into a coherent system of member experiences, platform capabilities, operating models and sequenced investments that can scale across Virta.

  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to Product, Design, Engineering, AI/Machine Learning, Analytics and executive leaders, bringing clarity to ambiguous problems and driving decisions across organizational boundaries.

  • Lead through influence across Clinical, Coaching, Operations, Regulatory and other partners to evolve Virta’s care model while balancing member value, clinical impact, business outcomes, feasibility and compliance.

  • Raise the quality of product thinking and execution across the organization by mentoring product leaders, strengthening product practices and modeling exceptional strategic judgment.

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Develop a strong understanding of Virta’s members, care model, consumer product experience, business priorities and key measures of success.

  • Build trusted working relationships across Product, Design, Engineering, Machine Learning, Analytics, Clinical, Coaching, Operations and other key partners.

  • Assess the current member journey, available research, performance data and active initiatives to identify the most important opportunities and points of friction.

  • Develop and align stakeholders around an initial point of view on the consumer product strategy, including priority outcomes, audiences and product opportunities.

  • Establish a roadmap and experimentation approach for the highest-priority opportunities, with clear hypotheses, measures of success and near-term actions.

Must-Haves
  • 15+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record of building consumer products that delivered meaningful, measurable improvements in activation, engagement, retention and customer outcomes.

  • Strong product judgment and user empathy, with an understanding of behavior change, habit formation, lifecycle engagement, segmentation and experimentation.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate an ambitious vision into a coherent product strategy, roadmap and sequence of investments while leading across complex cross-functional systems.

  • Fluency in how data, AI and personalization can create adaptive consumer experiences, along with the ability to engage deeply with Engineering, Machine Learning, Analytics, Design and other cross functional partners.

Values-driven culture

Virta’s company values drive our culture, so you’ll do well if:

  • You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same

  • You prioritize positive impact over busy work

  • You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience

  • You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information

  • You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma
