Job Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview.

The Stress Engineer III addresses complex structural integrity, load evaluation, and weight optimization challenges across diverse aircraft alteration projects. This role resolves critical manufacturing and installation discrepancies by determining effective repair solutions and evaluating internal and external loads for interior monuments, Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), exterior antennas, and primary aircraft structures. By performing classical hand analysis, finite element modeling, and rigorous substantiation reporting, the engineer ensures full structural safety, compliance with regulatory requirements, and alignment with quality management targets.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):

  • Perform comprehensive classical hand analysis and finite element modeling to determine external and internal loads while verifying total structural integrity for aircraft alterations
  • Generate, maintain, and deliver complete structural substantiation reports to satisfy regulatory standards and quality objectives
  • Evaluate manufacturing or installation discrepancies to establish effective engineering solutions, minimize product cost, and optimize aircraft weight
  • Support stress department OKRs by leading assigned project teams, mentoring junior analysts, and collaborating with design engineers to enhance product performance
  • Leverage AI Application tools to automate finite element data extraction, speed up initial structural modeling, and streamline load report generation

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Core Skills and Competencies (What you'll bring):

  • Technical mastery in classical hand analysis, finite element analysis (FEA) theory, and structural load evaluation
  • Expert knowledge of aircraft structural regulations, quality operating procedures, and industry safety standards
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical reasoning to define structural issues, interpret complex variables, and formulate precise engineering solutions
  • Collaborative project leadership and communication capabilities to coordinate multi-disciplinary staff, mentor team members, and present technical findings to management
  • Practical AI Application skills to enhance engineering workflow efficiency, optimize data interpretation, and accelerate stress calculations

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience using PATRAN or FEMAP finite element analysis software tools
  • Proficiency in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis utilizing software applications such as AFGROW or NASGRO
  • Direct background in aircraft structural stress analysis and alteration projects

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of related experience in engineering and structural stress analysis
  • Must have at least 8 years of experience with:
    • Classical hand stress analysis and finite element modeling for aircraft structures
    • Developing structural substantiation reports and maintaining quality documentation
    • Resolving manufacturing or installation discrepancies for interior monuments, LRUs, and exterior antennas
