As a Senior Systems Engineer at Fueled, you will join a team designing, deploying, and operating robust, scalable infrastructure platforms that support everything from small workloads to enterprise-scale client environments. You will bring deep expertise in modern infrastructure as code — Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and CDK — and an automation-first mindset to every layer of the stack.
You will architect and automate scalable cloud environments across AWS and Azure (with GCP and Oracle Cloud a plus), drive seamless CI/CD, and shape infrastructure through containerization and orchestration. With strong Linux fundamentals, you'll handle everything from bare-metal tuning to cloud-native service monitoring, debugging complex distributed systems, and producing the comprehensive documentation that keeps high-uptime platforms running.
Intentionally remote and globally distributed across six continents, our team thrives in a culture that values flexibility, creativity, and cutting-edge technology. Together, we’re shaping the future of digital experiences.
- Own cloud infrastructure end-to-end: You will architect, deploy, and manage highly available environments across AWS and Azure using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and CDK, and lead production Kubernetes workloads in EKS/AKS — including upgrades, networking, and autoscaling.
- Serve as the Linux subject matter expert: You will own system builds, configure and troubleshoot core services like NGINX, MariaDB, and Redis, and drive performance, security, and reliability from the kernel up.
- Operate the data and caching tier: You will run and scale MariaDB/Galera clusters alongside Redis, Memcached, and Elasticsearch, applying performance tuning and IaC-driven workflows to keep everything fast and resilient.
- Engineer CI/CD and automation: You will build and tune pipelines in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps, and replace repetitive operational work with robust Python and Bash scripting that accelerates developer velocity.
- Lead observability, security, and performance: You will evolve monitoring across metrics, logs, and traces, harden infrastructure security, participate in incident response and the 24/7 on-call rotation, and lead load-testing efforts that drive measurable platform improvements.
- Week 1: You will seamlessly integrate with our engineering teams, auditing existing AWS/Azure architectures and CI/CD pipelines to understand our baseline operations and client workloads.
- Month 1: You will take ownership of core infrastructure deployments, standardizing IaC practices, and begin tuning our Kubernetes clusters and Linux systems for optimal performance.
- Month 6: You will have fully optimized and automated key deployment workflows, established highly available data tiers, and driven measurable improvements in security, observability, and overall platform reliability.
- Team Impact: You will act as a critical bridge between systems and application teams, establishing robust platform engineering standards that support complex client workloads, including high-scale, highly available WordPress and headless setups.
- Career Growth: You will establish yourself as a vital DevOps leader within the agency, shaping our multi-cloud strategy, heavily influencing infrastructure design, and elevating the technical standards of our operations.
- You are a senior cloud infrastructure operator. You bring demonstrated senior-level experience in platform engineering or DevOps at scale or in multi-tenant environments, with strong hands-on AWS and Azure (multi-cloud preferred; GCP and Oracle Cloud a plus).
- You are a Linux and IaC expert. You can set up, tune, troubleshoot, and harden Linux systems at a deep level, and you've taken Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or CDK projects from greenfield through long-term management.
- You run production Kubernetes and data services. You have proven experience operating EKS/AKS — upgrades, networking, troubleshooting — and managing production-grade NGINX, MariaDB/Galera, Redis/Memcached, and Elasticsearch.
- You automate relentlessly and ship pipelines that scale. You write advanced Python and/or Bash, and you've built and tuned CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions, GitLab, or similar tools with a strong grasp of modern observability tooling and security best practices.
- You communicate clearly and show up for the team. You write excellent documentation, work well with clients, bridge systems and application teams (including high-scale, highly available WordPress hosting and headless setups), and are available for a 24/7 support rotation.
