Company Overview

Ambiq's mission is to enable intelligence everywhere by delivering the lowest power semiconductor solutions. Ambiq is a pioneer and a leading provider of ultra-low-power semiconductor solutions based on our proprietary and patented sub- and near-threshold technologies. With the increasing power requirements of artificial intelligence (AI) computing, our customers are relying on our solutions to deliver AI to edge environments. Our hardware and software innovations fundamentally deliver a multi-fold improvement in power consumption over traditional semiconductor designs without expensive process geometry scaling. We began in 2010 by addressing the power consumption challenges of battery-powered devices at the edge, where they were most pronounced. As of the beginning of 2025, we've shipped more than 280+ million units worldwide.

Our innovative and fast-moving teams of design, research, development, production, marketing, sales, and operations are spread across several continents, including the US (Austin), Taiwan (Hsinchu), China (Shanghai and Shenzhen), and Singapore. We value relentless technology innovation, a deep commitment to customer success, collaborative problem-solving, and an enthusiastic pursuit of energy efficiency. We embrace candidates who also share these same values. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, creative, and comfortable learning and driving exciting new technologies. We encourage and nurture an environment that fosters growth and opportunities to work on complex, meaningful, and challenging projects, creating a lasting impact and shaping the future of technology. Join us on our quest for enabling billions of intelligent devices. The intelligence everywhere revolution starts here.

Shape How Our Silicon Is Understood in the Field

Ambiq designs ultra-low-power MCUs and Edge AI SoCs that power next-generation embedded and wearable devices.

We are hiring a Senior Technical Documentation Engineer to develop and own the customer-facing technical documentation for our MCU platforms.

This role sits at the intersection of architecture, hardware design, software engineering, validation, and applications — translating complex silicon behavior into precise, field-ready technical documentation.

This is not generic technical writing.
This role requires embedded systems understanding and the ability to interpret schematics, reference manuals, and system-level behavior.

What You’ll Own
  • Author and maintain:

    • Datasheets

    • Reference manuals

    • Errata documentation

    • Hardware user guides

    • Application notes

  • Collaborate closely with architecture, hardware, software, validation, and applications teams to gather and verify technical content

  • Interpret electrical specifications and peripheral behavior accurately

  • Track device-level issues raised internally or by customers and determine documentation impact

  • Coordinate structured cross-functional documentation reviews

  • Maintain document revision history and version control

  • Manage documentation projects using Jira and Confluence

  • Assist with knowledgebase articles, hardware design guidelines, and field-facing technical materials

You will play a critical role in ensuring that Ambiq’s silicon is clearly, accurately, and professionally represented to customers.

What We’re Looking ForRequired
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience developing technical documentation for embedded systems or MCU products

  • Strong proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Word

  • Experience managing documentation workflows using Jira

  • Strong understanding of embedded systems from both hardware and software perspectives

  • Working knowledge of ARM Cortex-M processors

  • Ability to describe MCU peripherals such as SPI, I2C, UART clearly and accurately

  • Ability to read and understand PCB schematics

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and revision management discipline

Preferred
  • Experience contributing to SoC datasheets or reference manuals

  • Familiarity with git or revision control systems

  • Experience with Confluence or documentation management tools

  • Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., LLMs) to accelerate research and draft development

Why This Role Matters

Clear, accurate documentation is critical to customer success.

This role ensures:

  • Field engineers have correct usage guidance

  • Customers understand device limitations and errata

  • New MCU family members are documented consistently

  • Technical issues are communicated effectively and professionally

You will work directly with engineering teams in Austin and play a visible role in how Ambiq engages with customers globally.
