Senior Technical Product Manager, Hardhat & EDR

Who we are

The Nomic Foundation is a non-profit advancing the Ethereum ecosystem. We build open-source runtimes, compilers, build systems, and deployment solutions that are used by tens of thousands of developers. We emphasize robust engineering and lean processes, allowing for quick decision-making and distraction-free software development. You have the opportunity to shape the future of the Ethereum ecosystem through deep technical work on critical developer infrastructure, where your specific contributions will have a tangible impact.

About the teams

This role will work closely with two teams on closely related products: Hardhat and EDR, which together power the core of our Ethereum developer tooling stack.

The Hardhat team builds our established and market-leading products. These are user-facing infrastructure that developers use to write, test, compile, and deploy their Solidity contracts for Ethereum networks. The Hardhat suite of products is widely used in the ecosystem, and supports developers end to end, from early experimentation to production systems with billions in on-chain capital at stake.

The EDR (Ethereum Development Runtime) team builds a high-performance runtime in Rust for developer tooling. EDR currently powers Hardhat’s local network simulation for development and testing and is designed to be reused by other tools, supporting more consistent and maintainable execution across the Ethereum developer ecosystem.

This is a fully remote role, open to candidates based in Central Europe through the Americas Eastern Time zone.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to own and drive the Hardhat and EDR product roadmaps in alignment with Nomic’s long-term vision. Both products are developer-facing and highly complex technically. Their product surface is primarily a collection of APIs and CLI tools.
This is a senior individual contributor role working closely with engineering teams and ecosystem partners to define, prioritise, and deliver features that power Ethereum developer workflows and core infrastructure.

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven work experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner on technical, developer-facing products or platforms.

  • Minimum of 2 years of prior professional experience as a Software Engineer, with hands-on work in a strongly typed language such as TypeScript, Rust, C++, C#, Java, or Go.

  • A strong user-focused product mindset, with demonstrated judgment around trade-offs, collaborative problem-solving, and accountability for end-to-end outcomes.

  • Experience translating developer needs into clear product requirements, PRDs, and product design documentation.

  • Process-driven product work experience across discovery, design, iteration, and release cycles.

  • Ability to evaluate technical feasibility, architectural constraints, and engineering trade-offs from a product perspective, in close collaboration with engineers, enabling sound and pragmatic product decisions.

  • Experience building or managing developer tooling, such as APIs, SDKs, CLIs, IDE integrations, or infrastructure platforms, either as an engineer or product manager.

  • Exposure to Ethereum protocol, tooling, or developer workflows, with a practical understanding of related infrastructure.

What you’ll do

Own and execute product direction for Hardhat & EDR

  • Own, execute, and continuously refine the Hardhat and EDR product roadmaps in close collaboration with our CTO, our Head of Engineering, engineering managers, and engineering teams.

  • Act as the primary owner of product prioritisation decisions for “what we build next,” weighing developer impact, engineering cost, ecosystem needs, and long-term strategy.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for engineers for product and UX guidance during feature development, ensuring consistency and a high quality user experience across our products.

Own senior product execution and decision-making

  • Take over core product responsibilities currently handled by Head of Engineering and CTO, including writing PRDs and product documentation, structuring feature definitions, and maintaining alignment through regular 1:1s.

  • Ensure requirements are technically realistic, clearly scoped, and shaped by an understanding of ecosystem trade-offs and long-term implications.

Shape developer experience, APIs, and product design

  • Define UX expectations, API behavior, and developer-facing feature design from the developer’s perspective.

  • Decide how new functionality should surface (API, CLI, interface, configuration, etc.), ensuring consistency and coherence across Hardhat and EDR.

Partner closely with engineering to maximise impact

  • Work closely with engineering teams to align on dependencies, sequencing, and trade-offs.

  • Autonomously identify the highest-impact problems, improve prioritisation of bugs and feedback, and help unblock development.

  • Build strong trust with engineering teams by representing the product perspective clearly, pragmatically, and consistently in both internal and ecosystem-facing conversations.
