Job Description

Job Title: Senior Telecommunication Engineer
Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 1 year 9 Months
Performs highly advanced technical telecommunications work for the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) Child Support (CS) Information Technology Department. Work involves performing and coordinating planning, design, maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of CSD telecommunication and data systems. Mentors, trains and reviews the work of others.

Qualifications

Required:
· Plans, coordinates and performs design, operation and support activities of agency telecommunications and data systems, including but not limited to: telecommunication operations, voice/data networks, Call Center routing, outbound notification and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems
· Performs project management and systems administration for statewide telecommunication systems, including all Texas county locations
· Plans, coordinates and develops design and support activities for all telecommunications systems enhancements, upgrades, and implementations
· Provides input and expertise in the development of third party vendor services contracts to support the Child Support statewide network.
· Develops and analyzes telecommunications management reports to inform and support customers and inform management as requested
· Reviews, develops, implements and evaluates policies, processes and procedures related to telecommunication and network projects
· Researches available products, solutions, and emerging technologies and participates in efforts to review products and secure solutions; Investigates, recommends and implements new technologies, security enhancements and purchases
· Experience in system administration, telecommunications design and development, performing advanced and complex trouble-shooting and resolving problems related to networks, WANs/LANs or WAN/Telecommunication installation and support
· Mentors, trains and provides knowledge transfer to FTE staff in area of expertise
· Skill in effective verbal and written communication with all levels of customers/users within an organization
· Skill in giving and following technical instructions
· Skill in planning and organizing work to meet deadlines, goals and complete multiple assignments without compromising accuracy
· Knowledge of cause and effect when making network changes.
· Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
· Ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly
· Ability to provide excellent customer service
Preferences:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in MIS, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field of study
