Job Description

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role responsible for shaping how complex operational and engineering data is translated into intuitive, scalable, and commercially powerful software experiences.

This role is approximately 80% product-focused and 20% marketing-support oriented. As the company’s sole designer, you will define and lead product design standards while also supporting high-value marketing initiatives such as technical collateral, print materials, and executive presentations when needed.

The ideal candidate thrives in data-heavy environments, enjoys simplifying complex engineering workflows, and brings both system-level product thinking and hands-on execution capability. The candidate will own and elevate the user experience of our web-based B2B SaaS engineering platform.

Product Design Leadership (Primary Focus)

  • Own the end-to-end design of IPT’s web-based SaaS platform.
  • Translate complex engineering workflows, field operations, and analytical outputs into intuitive user experiences.
  • Lead UX strategy across dashboards, reporting modules, workflow tools, and performance analytics interfaces.
  • Design scalable, modular UI components and establish a structured product design system.
  • Drive usability improvements based on user feedback, analytics, and field insights.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to shape feature concepts and ensure design feasibility.
  • Ensure product consistency, clarity, and usability across releases.

Field Data Visualization & Technical Interface Design

  • Design sophisticated dashboards and visualizations for drilling, completions, intervention, and P&A performance data.
  • Transform complex operational datasets into clear, actionable visual insights for engineers and decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with data science teams to present analytics and model outputs in intuitive and credible ways.
  • Optimize layouts for clarity, speed of interpretation, and executive-level communication.

Cross-Functional Product Collaboration

  • Act as the UX authority within the product development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to roadmap discussions with a strong user-centered perspective.
  • Balance user needs, technical constraints, and commercial priorities.
  • Participate in client-facing discussions when UX input is required.

Marketing & Brand Support (Secondary Focus)

  • Provide design support for high-value marketing initiatives during project overflow.
  • Create technical print collateral and visual assets to support brand promotion.
  • Design high-impact PowerPoint presentations for executive, sales, and client use.
  • Ensure visual consistency between product interface and external brand materials.

Design Standards & Governance

  • Establish and maintain IPT’s product design language and UI standards.
  • Define best practices for usability, accessibility, and scalable interface design.
  • Implement structured documentation to support developer handoff and consistency.
  • Serve as the steward of visual quality across product and key marketing outputs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in product design for complex, web-based SaaS platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma.
  • Strong understanding of information hierarchy, interaction design, and scalable design systems.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating:
    • Data visualization and dashboard design
    • Complex UX problem solving
    • Systems-level design thinking
    • High-fidelity UI execution
  • Proven experience designing enterprise or B2B applications with sophisticated workflows.
  • Experience collaborating closely with software engineers in agile environments.
  • Ability to interpret technical or engineering concepts and translate them into intuitive interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in oil & gas, energy, industrial technology, or other heavy engineering sectors.
  • Familiarity with drilling, completions, intervention, or performance analytics environments.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of frontend technologies (HTML/CSS/React) to support effective developer collaboration.
  • Experience operating as a sole designer or building design functions from the ground up.

This role is ideal for a senior designer who wants to own and shape product experience within a high-impact, engineering-driven SaaS company.
