We are seeking a Senior Workday Analyst, Finance to join FoundationCCC in its mission of benefiting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. Together, we are building stronger communities by getting students and colleges the resources they need to succeed and expanding pathways to economic and social mobility across California. Join us as we continue this important work to uphold the value of community colleges in building a brighter future.

What You’ll Do

FoundationCCC supports the California Community College system by reducing barriers to opportunity, strengthening communities, and accelerating pathways to economic and social mobility for students and Californians. This position within Business Systems is accountable for Workday’s Finance function, with a heavy emphasis on Payroll. We are looking for a finance professional with hands-on Workday experience: someone who understands how payroll, close, and controls actually work, and how to make the platform support them. Transaction processing stays with the Accounting and Payroll teams, and planning models stay with Financial Planning and Analysis; this role makes sure the platforms and the processes built on them are right, serving as the escalation point for complex issues and partnering with the Senior Workday Analyst, HRIS on cross-domain items such as worktags, benefits, and costing allocations.

  •  Payroll and Benefits

    • Partners with the Senior Workday Analyst, HRIS on employee benefit configurations and leads resolution of complex payroll calculation, retro, and posting issues and carries payroll readiness for year-end and tax filings
  • Workday Finance and Adaptive Planning
    •  Serves as technical lead for Workday Financial Management (Financial Accounting, procurement, expenses, banking and settlement, budgets, grants, and reporting) and administers Workday Adaptive Planning as a platform
    • Leads Finance-domain design for configuration changes and regression testing
  •  Data Management and Integrations
    • Works confidently with large financial data sets and selects the right method for each data movement integration
  •  Support and Partnerships
    • Serves as the escalation point for complex Finance, Payroll, and Adaptive tickets received
    • Serves as a cross-functional mentor and subject matter expert to the Workday Analyst, Finance and Finance team members

Attributes for Success

  •  Strong, practical command of finance fundamentals: payroll and payroll accounting, GAAP, month-end and year-end close, reconciliation, internal controls, and audit readiness
  • Hands-on expertise in Workday Payroll, Workday Financial Management, and Workday Adaptive Planning
  •  Advanced data skills: manipulating large data sets in Excel or SQL, building advanced and composite Workday reports and calculated fields, and executing EIB loads accurately.
  • Experience in a high-growth or organizational transformation environment, with judgment for how finance processes and systems need to scale together.
  • A consensus-building advisor able to work across Finance IT, and Business Systems, aligning stakeholders with competing priorities and earning trust without direct authority.
  • Our work holds great weight and responsibility, and the opportunity to impact the lives of millions of individuals in California
  • Innovation, creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurship are encouraged as employees work to achieve organizational goals
  • FoundationCCC blends the impact of a non-profit, the culture of an entrepreneurial start-up, and the scale of a state agency
