Senior Workday Financials Engineer (Contract)

The opportunity
Join Unity as a Workday Financials Senior Engineer (Contractor-Full-time) to play a critical role in optimizing and evolving our Workday Financials ecosystem. In this role, you will ensure the platform effectively supports business objectives by translating requirements into scalable, efficient Workday solutions. You’ll lead hands-on development, deployment, and ongoing operational support across Workday Financials, including data integrations where needed. You will collaborate closely with the broader Workday team and the Finance organization to design, build, and continually enhance Workday Financials.

What you'll be doing

• Be a key technical, hands-on, and functional team member for Workday Financials initiatives, owning strategic configuration and design decisions within the Workday Financials ecosystem to build scalable, high-quality solutions for complex business needs.
• Own end-to-end project delivery—from scoping and requirements through build, testing, go-live, and post-deployment support—partnering closely with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to align plans, communicate progress, and deliver projects on time.
• Maintain strong governance and documentation standards, ensuring clear data lineage, audit-ready records, and structured configuration tracking while contributing to the Workday configuration library and internal best practices.
• Lead design, testing and deployment of enhancements to maximize business value and process optimization.

What we're looking for

• Strong hands-on expertise in Workday Financial modules, including configuration, functional design, with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Strong proficiency in Workday Security, User/Role management, Business Processes, EIBs
• Advanced Workday reporting skills (Advanced, Matrix, Composite, Calculated Fields) along with experience using Prism Analytics and Accounting Center to streamline accounting processes.
• Demonstrated track record of driving process improvements and optimizing system functionality for Finance operations.
• Deep understanding of core finance processes, including Procure-to-pay, Quote-to-Cash, Customer/Supplier Management, Expense Management, GL Accounting, Consolidations, and master data structures.
• Familiarity with Workday release cycles, change control processes, and evaluating new platform features for implementation.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Technical, and cross-functional teams. Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

• Workday FINS Certified
• Knowledge of Workday Studio and Extend
• Knowledge of LLM and proven experience with the implementation of AI features in finance systems/processes
