Level is a learning technology company dedicated to helping students build real academic and life skills with confidence and joy. We combine proven curriculum principles with world class interactive design to make meaningful practice something students want to come back to, not something they struggle through.

We support what teachers, schools, and parents are already doing by increasing student engagement with high quality, standards aligned practice that reinforces classroom learning. That's why we're building:

For students: Rewarding and motivating learning experiences that meet students where they are to build real academic proficiency.

For educators: Tools that fit naturally into instruction and help students stay engaged while reducing teacher workload.

For parents: Activities that help your kid catch up or get ahead, build confidence, and minimize homework battles, whether learning at school or at home.

We are committed to helping every person maximize their potential and live a life of meaning. It's a difficult problem that requires brilliant people and tremendous effort over time.

Level is looking for a Senior Writer to own editorial quality and voice across Level's edtech products. You'll craft writing that kids connect with, shape the delivery of math and English language arts (ELA) learning goals, and serve as the trusted source for writing and editing needs across the company. As a Senior Writer, you'll mentor other writers, streamline our editorial processes, and help teams ship engaging and pedagogically sound content.

What You Will Do
  • Editorial Ownership: Own the quality, voice, and consistency of student-facing writing across one or more product lines, from concept through ship

  • Pedagogy-Informed Writing: Partner with learning designers to express instructional goals and standards in kid-friendly, accurate, and engaging language

  • Go-To Editorial Partner: Act as the primary writing and editing resource across edtech teams, triaging requests, setting priorities, and delivering quickly against tight schedules

  • Mentorship: Actively mentor associate and mid-level writers, giving clear, constructive feedback that raises the team's craft and speed

  • Quality Review: Review content from across the organization, including work by non-writers, raising quality without becoming a bottleneck

Qualifications

Need to Have:

  • 6+ years of professional writing and editing experience, including significant work in edtech, children's media, or educational content

  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional writing for children and/or instructional content that is clear and engaging

  • Proven track record of owning writing and editing on shipped products

  • Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring junior writers

  • Proven ability to manage high volume across multiple workstreams while maintaining quality

  • Experience building or improving editorial workflows, style guides, or content standards

Nice to Have:

  • Experience leading writing for shipped educational games, apps, or curriculum products

  • K - 8 Classroom teaching, curriculum development, or instructional design background

  • Hands-on experience with Godot or other engines and content pipelines

  • Expertise in accessibility and inclusive, culturally responsive writing

  • Advanced degree in English, education, creative writing, or a related field
