SEO/AEO Strategist
As our SEO/AEO Strategist, you'll be the in-house expert who owns our entire search visibility program — from technical SEO and content strategy to the emerging frontier of AI-powered search. Working closely with the Growth Marketing Manager and the broader marketing team, the SEO Specialist translates strategy into executed, measurable improvements in organic traffic, rankings, and conversion. - Own uShip's organic search program across all commodity verticals
- Develop and maintain keyword strategy and on-page optimization priorities
- Align SEO efforts with business objectives and communicate organic performance to marketing leadership
- Monitor the SERP landscape, competitor positioning, and algorithm updates on an ongoing basis
- Maintain and evolve keyword tracking and reporting infrastructure
Technical SEO
- Conduct regular site crawls to identify and prioritize technical issues including crawl errors, redirects, and indexation gaps
- Partner with engineering and product teams to implement technical SEO recommendations
- Manage internal linking architecture and site structure improvements
- Monitor Core Web Vitals and page speed performance in coordination with product team
- Ensure proper SEO handling of URL changes, site migrations, and new page launches
- Lead keyword research and content briefing for SEO-strategic content
- Partner with the Content Manager on SEO-informed editorial planning, on-page optimization, and content refresh cycles
- Identify and prioritize content gaps based on impression data, keyword research, and competitive analysis
- Refine and maintain content hub and pillar page architecture across high-value verticals
- Deliver regular SEO performance reports
- Track keyword rankings, CTR benchmarks, impression share, and organic revenue contribution
- Organic funnel analysis and conversion attribution
- Contribute organic search data and insights to reporting cycles
- Monitor uShip's visibility and citation rate within AI-generated search experiences including Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, etc.
- Develop and execute a GEO strategy to improve uShip's presence in generative search results across key shipping categories
- Stay current on evolving AI search behaviors and recommend tactical adjustments to content and structured data strategy
- Report on AI search performance alongside traditional organic metrics as part of regular SEO reporting
- Serve as the internal SEO subject matter expert, translating external audit findings and strategic direction into prioritized execution plans
- Coordinate with Product and Engineering on SEO requirements for new features, URL structures, and site changes
- Partner with the Growth Marketing Manager on landing page optimization and paid/organic keyword strategy alignment
- Collaborate with the broader marketing team on content, campaigns, etc.
Required Qualifications
- 3–6 years of hands-on SEO experience, with demonstrated ownership of an organic search program
- Deep proficiency in Google Search Console
- Hands-on experience with Semrush or Ahrefs for keyword research, position tracking, and competitive analysis
- Strong understanding of technical SEO fundamentals: crawl, indexation, site structure, schema markup, Core Web Vitals
- Experience with internal linking strategy
- Collaborative, cross-functional working style with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in marketplace, e-commerce, or two-sided platform businesses preferred
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (Sanity or similar) and basic HTML a plus
Location: FULLY REMOTE or HYBRID optional team environment if local (HQ Austin, TX 78701)
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 base salary
