At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

Remote: This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings.  

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

We are seeking an experienced leader to support our platform engineering efforts as we evolve a next-generation architecture that leverages modern technologies, scalable design principles, and AI-driven innovation. Join us to lead the evolution of a modern hosting platform powering millions of WordPress and application sites. We're looking for a hands-on leader with deep experience in platform engineering—cost, performance, security, and scale—who can also drive the adoption of AI and agentic workflows as we transform our stack.

What you'll get to do...

  • Lead a team building and extending a high-scale, cost-efficient, secure hosting platform.
  • Drive modernization using cloud-native architecture, automation, and developer experience best practices.
  • Integrate AI and agentic capabilities into both existing and new platform components.
  • Collaborate across product, security, and operations to deliver new features and maintain robust compliance.
  • Mentor engineers, fostering both platform expertise and curiosity about emerging technologies.
  • Support and explore other infrastructure related initiatives beyond the WordPress platform.
  • Leverage automation to simplify tasks and build highly performant components.

Your experience should include...

  • Proven experience leading platform engineering teams for large-scale, high-availability hosting or cloud platforms.
  • Deep expertise in cost, performance, security, and scalability.
  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure (AWS, OpenStack), automation, and developer tooling.
  • Experience integrating new technologies (including AI/ML) into existing platforms.
  • Experience with AI/ML tools, agentic workflows, or intelligent automation.
  • Familiarity with cost optimization (FinOps), performance monitoring, and platform security best practices.
  • Experience supporting WordPress and other modern application stacks.

  • Knowledge of our tech stack including: AI (MCPs, LLMs), Orchestration (HashiCorp Nomad, Docker, Cilium), Networking (AWS NLB, Traefik, CoreDNS), Storage (EBS CSI, FSx, CephFS), Observability (Prometheus, Grafana), Databases (etcd, Redis), Application technologies (nginx unit, PHP, Node.js), IaC & Config (AWS CDK, Terraform, Ansible), and Security tools (OIDC proxy, SELinux, Illumio).
