Aqua Finance is seeking a highly skilled Snowflake Architect to lead the design, implementation, optimization, and governance of our enterprise data platform. This role serves as the technical leader for Snowflake architecture, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions that support business intelligence, reporting, analytics, data science, and AI-driven initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines deep Snowflake expertise with strong data modeling, cloud architecture, and data engineering experience. This individual will collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Essential Functions
Design, implement, and optimize high-performance data architectures on the Snowflake cloud data platform
Develop robust logical and physical data models, optimizing query performance and resource utilization
Design, build, and optimize scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines utilizing Snowpipe, dbt, Matillion, Informatica, or similar technologies
Manage key Snowflake administration tasks, including user/role management, role-based access controls (RBAC), network policies, dynamic data masking, row access policies, disaster recovery through account replication, and deployment pipelines
Optimize Snowflake performance through virtual warehouse sizing, query tuning, clustering keys, materialized views, resource monitors, Tasks, Time Travel, Zero-Copy Cloning, and Secure Data Sharing
Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, data flow diagrams, and data lineage to support SOC2 compliance, governance standards, and audit requirements
Leverage Snowflake Cortex Analyst, Snowpark, and other advanced Snowflake capabilities to enable AI-driven analytics, self-service insights, and advanced use cases
Collaborate with Business Intelligence, Reporting, Data Science, and Engineering teams to develop scalable, secure, and cost-effective data solutions
Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, establish best practices, lead proof-of-concept initiatives, and support enterprise data strategy and architecture decisions
Monitor and optimize Snowflake workloads and spending to ensure efficient resource utilization and predictable costs
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field, or commensurate work experience required
5 years of experience in Data Warehousing, Data Engineering, ETL/ELT, or Business Intelligence
3 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and administering Snowflake solutions
Strong knowledge of Snowflake architecture, performance optimization, security, governance, and disaster recovery best practices
Experience designing scalable data models and cloud-native data solutions
Experience with data integration and transformation tools such as dbt, Matillion, Informatica, or similar platforms
Experience integrating Snowflake with cloud storage platforms and BI/reporting tools
Advanced SQL skills and working knowledge of Python preferred
Knowledge of SOC2 compliance, data governance, and data architecture documentation practices
Snowflake SnowPro Advanced Administrator and/or Architect certifications preferred
Financial services industry experience preferred
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project leadership skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, visualize, talk, hear, and handle or touch objects or controls. The employee may occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.
This position is an office-based position where you must be able to sit for long periods of time. The employee will be working on a computer approximately 90% of the time.
