The Social Content Creator will develop and star in original short-form videos for social media, focusing on renter advice and comedic content. They will work closely with the Brand team to innovate and create engaging, relatable content that resonates with renters.
Social Content Creator— On-Camera Talent
Contract | 20-30 hrs/week | $50/hour | Remote (U.S.)
Apartment List is building a bold, renter-first social presence—and we’re just getting started.
This year, we’re taking big creative swings on social: developing original series, experimenting with new formats, and showing up with a clearer point of view about renting, city life, and the realities people actually face. Social isn’t an afterthought here—it’s a core brand channel, and we’re investing in it accordingly.
We’re looking for a Social Content Creator to join our growing Brand team and help bring that vision to life. This is a highly creative, on-camera role for someone who loves storytelling, has a strong point of view, and is excited to help shape what a modern, culture-forward rental brand looks like on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
If you’re energized by building something—not just plugging into an existing formula—this role is for you.
This creator will help us develop and star in original short-form video content that feels native, entertaining, and unmistakably Apartment List. You’ll be a key creative voice on the team, helping us push past safe ideas and into content renters genuinely connect with.
We’re especially interested in creators who are excited about one or both of these creative lanes:
1. Renter Advice / Persona-Driven Content
You show up as a trusted, relatable voice—think wiser sibling or rent-savvy friend. This content is confident, empathetic, and practical, helping renters make sense of affordability, leases, roommates, moving stress, and all the “no one tells you this” moments of renting.
2. Scripted Skits & Comedic Content
You bring renter truths to life through humor: skits, POVs, exaggerated-but-real moments, and culture-forward takes on apartment hunting and city living.
Some creators naturally do both. Others are exceptional in one lane. We’re open to either—we care most about strong creative instincts and a clear point of view.
- Create original, on-camera short-form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
- Help develop new content series, recurring formats, and creative experiments
- Write or collaborate on hooks, outlines, and light scripts optimized for short-form video
- Film and edit content using creator-first tools (CapCut, in-app editors, etc.)
- Partner closely with our Social Lead and Brand team to push ideas further and execute quickly
- Stay plugged into internet culture and renter conversations, knowing what to lean into—and what to skip
- Contribute ideas that help us evolve our voice, tone, and creative approach on social
You’re deeply creative, comfortable on camera, and excited by the idea of helping define a brand’s social presence—not just participating in it.
You might be a great fit if:
- You have 2+ years of experience creating short-form social video, either for yourself, a brand, or both
- You have a portfolio or social presence that clearly shows your on-camera style and creative POV
- You love experimenting with formats and aren’t afraid to try something bold
- You understand how to balance humor, clarity, and credibility
- You can take a creative direction and elevate it with your own ideas
- You’re fluent in TikTok and Instagram culture—not just the platforms, but the pacing, humor, and unspoken rules
- You care about making content that feels human, not overly polished or “brand-y”
- Strong on-camera presence and storytelling instincts
- Experience with short-form video editing tools (CapCut, TikTok/IG native tools, Canva, etc.)
- Ability to self-shoot content (phone is great—this is about ideas and execution, not production value)
- A sharp eye for what makes content stop the scroll
Please include:
- A link to your social media portfolio where we can see your on-camera work
A brief note telling us:
- Which creative lane(s) excite you most: Advice / Persona, Skit / Comedy, or Both
- Why you’re excited about building something bold with Apartment Lis
