Social Media & Community Manager

We'd love to receive a cover letter explaining why you're applying.

thatgamecompany is best recognized for creating award-winning, enriching, and meaningful game titles such as Sky, Journey, Flower, and flOw.

Our 3rd party publishing team is seeking a Social Media & Community Manager to shape how our games live and breathe online. You will own both our publishing label and partner channels, building each brand’s voice and personality through every post, reply, and moment of interaction. We are looking for someone who speaks with personality, timing, and heart, someone who understands cultural context and approaches every interaction with empathy, making each touchpoint feel human, alive, and worth sharing.

What You’ll Do

  • Shape and execute social strategies that reflect the unique voice of each game we publish

  • Turn sparks into stories. Make content that travels, from quick TikToks and GIFs to reactive posts that tap into cultural moments

  • Plan ahead while staying agile, building smart calendars and systems that give creativity room to move fast

  • Grow and nurture communities across Discord, Steam, Reddit, and beyond, turning engagement into genuine connection

  • Listen deeply to players and creators, surfacing insights that guide how we communicate and evolve

  • Experiment boldly, track what resonates, and use data to fuel the next viral idea

Who We Are Looking For

  • Familiarity with and passionate about indie gaming communities and their cultures, paired with genuine curiosity for audiences less represented in gaming. Our goal is to expand who games are for, not just speak to those already here

  • Proven ability to build and execute thoughtful community plans, translating ideas into engagement and growth

  • Streaming and on-camera communication skills

  • Deep understanding of core community platforms and awareness of emerging spaces worth exploring

  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to navigate tricky situations with empathy, clarity, and professionalism

  • Experience using community data and analytics to understand audience behavior and refine engagement strategies

  • Entrepreneurial and self-driven, thriving in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment

Perks:

• Paid Time Off, Holidays, and Two Weeks Winter Break

• Employees and their dependents get medical, dental, and vision coverage, regardless of their level, tenure, or position within the company. Moreover, these benefits start on the first day of the job—there’s no waiting period before they kick in.

• Pet Insurance for those who need it too.

• Compassionate leave for employees who needs to take care of their family members

• Pre-tax wellness stipend

• Pre-tax work from home stipend

• Access our savings plan (401K program) with company match

• Mental health resources including Headspace membership and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

• Discount portal for everyday goods and services

• Employee inclusive and diversity initiatives such as Grow Together

• Support for personal professional development

We look forward to meeting you!
