The Social Media Intern will create and edit engaging digital content, support social media planning, and collaborate with the marketing team to enhance visual storytelling at Midland College.
The social Media intern supports Midland college's efforts to visually tell its story through engaging digital content.
- Capture high-quality photography and video content at campus events in classrooms and across Midland College facilities
- Assist in producing short-form video content to promote programs, student experiences, and key campaigns
- Edit photos and videos for use across social media, website, and marketing campaigns' ensuring alignment with Midland College brand standards
- Support the planning, creation, and scheduling of social media content across institutional platforms
- Collaborate with the Marketing and communications team to develop visual storytelling campaigns that highlight student success and community impact
- Assist with concept development, scripting, and storyboarding for video projects
- Organize and maintain a digital library of photo and video assets
- Stay current on social media trends and recommend creative approaches to increase engagement and reach
- Provide on-site support for live event coverage, including real-time content capture and posting
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Current Midland college student or enrollment in a college/university program in Marketing communications, Media production, Film, Photography, or a related field preferred
- Strong interest in social media content creation, photography, and videography
- Basic knowledge of camera equipment (DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lighting audio)
- Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Capcut, Final cut Pro) and/or photo editing tools (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop)
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content trends
Preferred Skills
- Experience creating content for social media platforms
- Portfolio demonstrating photography and/or videography work
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite)
- Understanding of storytelling techniques for short-form video
Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- The person in this position needs to move to other locations on campus occasionally
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
- Use of manual dexterity
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds
- Duties indoors and some outdoors
