Level is a learning technology company dedicated to helping students build real academic and life skills with confidence and joy. We combine proven curriculum principles with world class interactive design to make meaningful practice something students want to come back to, not something they struggle through.

We support what teachers, schools, and parents are already doing by increasing student engagement with high quality, standards aligned practice that reinforces classroom learning. That’s why we’re building:

For students: Rewarding and motivating learning experiences that meet students where they are to build real academic proficiency.

For educators: Tools that fit naturally into instruction and help students stay engaged while reducing teacher workload.

For parents: Activities that help your kid catch up or get ahead, build confidence, and minimize homework battles, whether learning at school or at home.

We are committed to helping every person maximize their potential and live a life of meaning. It’s a difficult problem that requires brilliant people and tremendous effort over time.

Level is looking for a Senior Social Media Strategist to lead our social media strategy and execution across key platforms. In this role, you will shape how students, parents, educators, and lifelong learners discover, engage with, and trust our educational products and brand. You will also be the first line of defense when that trust is tested. This role spans both sides of social: the proactive, brand-building work of growing an audience, and the reactive, reputation-critical work of protecting it.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Execute Social Strategy: Create and manage comprehensive social media strategies for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Discord, Reddit and X, tailored to each platform’s unique audience, content formats, and algorithms.

  • Content Leadership: Oversee the planning, creation, and publishing of engaging, educational, and entertaining content (short-form video, Reels, carousels, threads, live sessions, etc.) that resonates with Gen A students, parents, educators, and adult learners.

  • Reputation Management & Crisis Response: Serve as the social voice during sensitive moments– product issues, press coverage, community backlash, or emerging narratives. Develop and maintain crisis response protocols, draft rapid-response messaging, and coordinate with Communications leadership and Legal to ensure aligned, timely action.

  • Social Listening & Threat Detection: Monitor brand mentions, sentiment trends, and emerging conversations across platforms and listening tools. Surface reputational risks early and brief internal stakeholders before issues escalate.

  • Audience & Platform Expertise: Deeply understand the nuances of each platform - what performs on TikTok vs. Instagram vs. LinkedIn-style content on Facebook/X - and continuously optimize for reach, engagement, and conversion. Maintain awareness of how each platform amplifies or contains reputational issues.

  • Tooling Ownership: Help select and implement the social media management, scheduling, and listening tools that power the team's workflow: you'll have real input into the stack from day one.

  • Community Management: Build and nurture active communities, respond to comments and messages professionally, and manage any sensitive interactions with speed, care, and judgement

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Content, Creative Services, Communications, Publishing, and broader Marketing teams to ensure brand consistency, campaign alignment, and a unified response posture when issues arise.

  • Performance Analysis: Track, analyze, and report on key metrics (engagement, reach, conversions, sentiment). Use data to iterate and improve strategies on a weekly/monthly basis.

  • Campaign Management: Support social components of major product launches, seasonal campaigns (back-to-school, new course releases), and paid social efforts in coordination with the performance marketing team.

  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Identify emerging social trends, tools, and creator opportunities , as well as shifts in the broader conversation around education, Ed tech, and student data privacy that could affect brand perception.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on social media management experience, with proven success managing TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X for a brand (EdTech, consumer, gaming or education-related experience strongly preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience in crisis communications or reputation management on social– you've been in the room when something went wrong and helped navigate it.

  • Strong instincts for when to respond, when to escalate, and when to let something pass, with the judgement to tell the difference under pressure.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and adapt content to different platform audiences and best practices.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing growth in followers, engagement rates, and campaign results.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - you’re a natural storyteller who can write scroll-stopping captions and a measured holding statement with equal fluency.

  • Experience collaborating with creative, content, and marketing teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience using native platform analytics, Meta Business Suite, TikTok Analytics, Google Analytics, etc. and social listening/sentiment tools (Meltwater, Brandwatch, or similar).

  • Passion for education and edtech is a big plus.

Bonus Points
  • Background in EdTech, consumer subscription products or live-service gaming

  • Experience building CRM programs for multilingual or Spanish-language audiences

  • Familiarity with COPPA consent management platforms (e.g. k-ID, SuperAwesome)

  • Experience scaling CRM programs across multiple subscription tiers
