SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIST

Independent Contractor  |  Remote  |  Minimum 20 Hours/Week

This is an independent contractor (1099) position. VaVa contractors are responsible for managing their own taxes, benefits, and business expenses.

VaVa Virtual Assistants is a remote company based out of Atlanta, Georgia, built on the belief that businesses thrive when they have the right support behind them. We connect clients across industries like nonprofit, legal, coaching, and finance with skilled virtual professionals who bring genuine expertise to the work. Our team may be distributed, but the culture is deeply connected through daily conversation, project collaboration, and regular all-company virtual gatherings.

We are looking for a skilled Social Media Strategist who operates at the intersection of digital marketing, data, and systems thinking. This person will own overarching social media strategy, email marketing, and campaign analytics for our clients, while leveraging automation and integrations to build scalable marketing ecosystems. Success in this role requires someone who is equally comfortable building a nurture sequence and interpreting campaign performance data to make confident strategic recommendations.

Beyond your client work, you will be part of a contractor community that genuinely invests in one another's success. Regular calls with clients and fellow contractors keep you connected to the broader VaVa team, and every interaction is an opportunity to reflect our mission, vision, and values.

Please review the requirements and qualifications below carefully, as they reflect what it truly takes to succeed in this role. We appreciate your interest in joining the team.

EXPECTATIONS

Represent VaVa Virtual Assistants in a Positive and Professional Manner

  • Demonstrate an exceptional work ethic and a positive attitude in all client and team interactions.
  • Ensure all communication reflects VaVa's values and standard of professionalism.
  • Contribute to a thriving contractor community by embracing VaVa's culture and engaging with the broader team.

Take Ownership of Client Satisfaction

  • Lead and manage client accounts with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
  • Anticipate client needs, communicate progress proactively, and surface challenges before they become problems.
  • Solve problems independently without compromising the quality or consistency of work delivered.
  • Maintain careful attention to detail and a consistent commitment to excellence across all deliverables.
  • Track engagement hours accurately and communicate proactively when scope or availability needs adjustment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop overarching social media strategies for clients, including channel selection, audience targeting, content mix, and growth objectives.
  • Design and execute email marketing campaigns including newsletters, promotional sends, drip sequences, and audience nurture pipelines.
  • Build and manage automated workflows using tools such as Zapier, Make, or n8n to connect social platforms, CRMs, and email systems.
  • Manage paid advertising campaigns across Google, Meta, LinkedIn, and Amazon, including budget allocation, audience targeting, and performance reporting.
  • Define, track, and report on client-defined performance metrics across social media and email channels, translating data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Conduct audience research and develop buyer personas to inform platform strategy and content direction.
  • Integrate CRM platforms with social media and email tools to ensure seamless lead capture, segmentation, and follow-up.
  • Monitor SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) performance and website traffic metrics as they relate to social and email-driven acquisition, including visibility in AI-generated search results.
  • Identify opportunities to improve funnel performance and recommend strategic adjustments based on campaign data.
  • Provide clients with regular strategy reviews, performance summaries, and forward-looking recommendations.
  • Stay current on digital marketing trends, platform algorithm updates, and emerging tools relevant to client industries.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and client communication across multiple accounts.
  • Recommend platform and tool integrations that improve efficiency and marketing outcomes for clients.
  • Write content including blog posts, email copy, and web copy as needed to support broader campaign strategies.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must reside and be authorized to work in the United States.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in social media strategy, digital marketing, and campaign management.
  • At least 2 years of experience working full-time in a virtual or remote capacity.
  • Available at least 20 hours per week to support high-touch (daily), deliverable-focused clients.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must Have

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing social media strategies across multiple platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo, ConvertKit, or HubSpot.

  • Experience with CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Dubsado, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytics and reporting skills using native platform analytics and tools such as Google Analytics.
  • AI literacy and demonstrated familiarity with AI tools applicable to marketing workflows and strategy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and at least one project management tool.

Preferred

  • Experience with API integrations and basic understanding of how platforms connect at a technical level.
  • Familiarity with SEO and AEO principles and tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Google Search Console.
  • Familiarity with social media content strategy and basic graphic design or video tools.
  • Background in funnel architecture, lead scoring, or advanced segmentation within CRM platforms.

EDUCATION

Candidates without a degree should hold at least one relevant certification, such as a HubSpot Marketing certification, Google Analytics or Ads certification, Meta Blueprint certification, or equivalent.

A commitment to continued learning is an expectation of this role. Staying current in a field that evolves as quickly as digital marketing is part of what it means to do this work well.
