As a Software Engineer on our high performing Identity team, you’ll be working on the fundamental challenges of Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) at a large scale. Our unified identity system for all our customer interfaces (web and command line) is key to customer site security, and our offerings differentiate WP Engine from other hosting providers. You will apply your engineering skills to solve customer issues like single sign-on, role-based access, and multi-factor authentication. You will be working in a collaborative, agile environment using the cloud-native technologies in Google Cloud Platform.

Day to day
  • Implement and enhance identity management, SSO, RBAC, MFA, and associated identity and access management services

  • Communicate the team’s standards for integrating with internal identity services

  • Guide colleagues through the on-boarding of new, connected systems

  • Empower our customer experience team with tools for efficiently addressing strategic customer requests

  • Administer internal identity services and maintain design, configuration, and operational process documentation

  • Expand and manage internal identity services written in Ruby, Go, and TypeScript.

  • Implement standard methodologies and adhere to RFCs for identity governance and administration


Your Expertise and Passion
  • 2-3 years of writing high quality software applications in any language (preferably Go or Ruby) and applying common approaches to software architecture and implementation

  • Production experience with containerization technologies like Docker

  • Exposure to Kubernetes and microservice architectures

  • An appreciation for the teamwork and collaboration required to achieve objectives using Agile and Continuous Delivery methodologies

  • Knowledge of how to secure customer APIs and the systems that support API security such as API gateways and microservices

  • Experience writing runbooks for developed software

  • A passion for working with internal teams to figure out what solution best fits their needs and assisting users with adoption

  • Demonstrated history of continuous learning and ability to stay ahead of technology trends

  • Ability to communicate design, status, and other complex subjects in written, visual, and oral formats

  • Effectiveness as a member of a distributed team

  • An eagerness to develop IAM expertise with guidance from experienced engineers colleagues


Other helpful experience
  • You understand IAM workflows and access governance

  • You show a proven understanding of IAM standards, protocols, and technologies: OAuth, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, Federation, SSO, and Multi-factor authentication

  • You have performed identity system administration with tools like Okta, Ping Identity, ADFS/Entra, ForgeRock, etc

Base Salary Range

$100,000.00 - $150,000.00

We believe that compensation should be reflective of the impact you have within the organization relative to the market value of your role. The estimated base salary range for this position is as listed above. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Our salary ranges are determined by job role and responsibilities and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for salaries for the position nationwide. The actual base pay will vary based on various factors including job-related skills and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
