Pair Eyewear is seeking a Software Engineer II to help scale and develop our internal tools. This team is responsible for management of prescription lifecycle, insurance integration, and interfacing with our manufacturing setup. This role will report to our Engineering Manager, Platform. You will help evolve the backend team to a more platform-centric unit. Your partners will be Product, the front end Site Experience team, Data, Design, and Operations.
What You’ll Do:Continue to evolve best practices in a small backend-focused product team. Work collaboratively with other engineers through code reviews and pair coding
Assist team members through difficult tasks and provide alternate approaches to stakeholder requirements
Assist in breaking down projects into executable sprints and tasks
Focus on iterating on and optimizing our order management system, being mindful of performance and scalability
Engage in technical conversations across the team – architecture meetings, code reviews, etc.
Break down large engineering and business initiatives into smaller iterative tasks
Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data teams to implement technical solutions that drive business value for all departments
You have 2+ years of software engineering experience.
You have experience providing considered PR reviews, pair programming, and thoughtful feature planning
You are looking to build experience leading small epics
You can communicate internally within the Engineering team (e.g., PRs, documentation) and externally with stakeholders (e.g., support channels, status meetings).
You are comfortable being an individual contributor that is deep in the code, but are also interested in developing a higher-level systems view
You are comfortable working in a hybrid environment with remote-only peers
Experience with object-oriented programming languages
Experience with Model-View-Controller frameworks
Experience with relational databases
Experience working cross-functionally with other departments and stakeholders
Nice to Have:
Experience with Ruby (on Rails)
Experience with PostgreSQL
Experience with AWS (ECS, S3)
Experience with Shopify Plus
Experience with project planning, scoping, and story sizing

At Pair, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. The pay range for this position is expected to be between $110,000 - $130,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
