The Opportunity:

As part of the engineering team at Spiceworks Ziff Davis, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, optimization, and maintenance of scalable applications while working closely with cross-functional teams in an agile development environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop advanced applications and intelligent systems
- Conduct peer review before committing to the code repository
- Unit-testing code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
- Monitoring and maintenance (hotfixes) of production systems
- Improve application performance and other non-functional requirements such as reliability
- Deliver technical discussion on the implemented functionalities
- Comply with coding standards that the organization has set
- Adapt the SCRUM software development process - participating in Sprint planning, review, standup, and retrospectives
Job Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience building well-tested, scalable, distributed, high-volume, low-latency systems.
- Experience working with AI engineering tools including Claude, Co-pilot, cursor.
- Proficiency in building web applications (REST APIs, MVC, VueJs, HTML, CSS, SCSS, etc.).
- Expertise in an object oriented or functional programming language Ruby on Rails, Golang, Python preferred)
- Experience in Agile development processes.
- Experience with development collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Git).
- Has exposure or has knowledge in high-performance computing and low latency development.
- Has a strong software development foundation implementing design patterns, OOPs, and coding best practices.
- Proficient understanding of the software development lifecycle: architecture and development, thorough testing, deployment, and monitoring of applications.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases (Postgres, AWS Redshift, Athena).
- Ability to understand business stakeholder needs and translate them into technical designs.
- Experience working within data processing regulations (GDPR).
- Bachelor’s or master's in engineering, computer science, or related field preferred but not mandatory
