About Aquia Inc.

Named the “#1 Best Remote Startup to Work For in 2025” by Built In, Aquia is a digital services firm specializing in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and compliance automation for the U.S. government.

Founded by Veterans, we are passionate about making our country digitally capable and secure. Since 2021, we’ve generated millions in cost savings through cloud services and licensing optimization, enabled civil servants to double health care fraud investigations through streamlined cloud-based systems, and reduced authorization timelines by 74% through modernized security processes. Last year, we were named the 2024 Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOSB) of the Year by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

About the Role

Aquia is seeking a Software Engineer with a generalist full stack background and a strong emphasis on quality assurance, automated testing, and AI-assisted development. This role sits at the intersection of feature delivery and engineering quality, supporting backlog iteration, bug resolution, and the test infrastructure that keeps delivery moving confidently. The ideal candidate is a curious, detail-oriented engineer who takes ownership of quality as a shared team responsibility, not an afterthought.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute to full stack feature development across the .NET and TypeScript/React/Next.js stack at a beginner-intermediate level
  • Design, write, and maintain automated test suites including unit and integration tests across front end and back end layers
  • Identify, triage, and resolve bugs in collaboration with senior engineers and product stakeholders
  • Support backlog refinement and sprint iteration with a quality-forward perspective
  • Write and optimize SQL queries in support of feature development and data validation
  • Leverage agentic AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and improve test coverage
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining testing standards and best practices across the team

What You Bring

Required:

  • 3 or more years of professional software engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience with automated testing/QA tools, frameworks, and methodologies- Jest preferred
  • Proficiency writing unit and integration test cases across application layers
  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying, validation, and data-layer support
  • Familiarity with React and Next.js for front end development and testing
  • Comfort integrating and working alongside agentic AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent)

Who We're Looking For

You're an engineer who cares about correctness and craft. You don't just write code; you think about how to verify it, what could break, and how to make the next engineer's job easier. You're comfortable operating as a generalist, moving across the stack as needed, and you're genuinely excited about using AI tooling to work smarter. You thrive in collaborative, senior-led teams where your contributions to quality have a direct impact on delivery outcomes.
