RAB Lighting is on the hunt for a talented and motivated Software Engineer.      If you're passionate about new and emerging technologies, looking to develop high-impact projects, and excited about working in a multi-faceted, dynamic remote-work environment, we want to hear from you!    

Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, as a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading development of new software projects including planning, developing, testing, and deployment of complex software systems. You will work to continuously improve RAB's testing infrastructure, both as an individual contributor and as a leader of team initiatives.

The ideal candidate will work on assignments in line with RAB’s Agile processes by clearly defining work in Jira with time estimations, completing development work on time, and constructively participating in code review and sprint meetings.   You will work across departments to discover needs and create software solutions by leading project kick-off meetings, regular check-ins to review progress, and own the project going forward including maintenance and new feature requests.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop, Design, Test, and Deploy high quality software applications.
  • Contribute to all areas of software development projects, including architecture, infrastructure, testing, design, and programming
  • Collaborate across departments to discover new software solutions and define project requirements
  • Work closely with development team to create stable, secure, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications and perform code reviews to ensure quality.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in the software development industry.

What We're Looking for, including:

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience
  • 4+ years of experience with database technologies such as Mysql
  • Proficiency in PHP programming including object oriented and functional paradigms.
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Web Programming (HTML, CSS, Javascript)
  • Experience with distributed DVCS, such as git.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-To-Haves

  • 4+ years of experience with automated test systems
  • API development and design
  • Test driven development
  • Cloud-based services
