Job Summary:

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting, auditing, and validating the quality of cabinet assembly products in a high-volume, hourly-driven manufacturing environment. This role ensures cabinet builds, cable assemblies, and test activities meet defined quality standards prior to progression or release.

In addition to inspection and audit execution, this role supports the design and implementation of scalable quality workspaces and processes that enable consistent inspection across assemblers of varying skill levels, junior network testers, and cable assemblers. The role partners closely with Operations, Industrial Engineering, and Engineering to support throughput, defect prevention, and partial automation of test documentation while maintaining quality integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections of cabinet assemblies, cable assemblies, and test outputs to meet both customer and Telamon KPI’s.
  • Audit adherence to assembly instructions, specifications, and quality standards across production areas.
  • Inspect and verify fiber handling, inspection, and cleaning practices prior to testing and release.
  • Utilize directed fiber inspection tools (e.g., fiber scopes) to validate connector cleanliness and condition.
  • Verify proper execution of fiber cleaning processes, including click-top swipe cleaners and optical swabs for port cleaning.
  • Identify, document, and escalate defects, trends, and systemic quality risks in real time.
  • Place work or material on quality hold when standards are not met and support containment actions.
  • Support verification of rework and corrective actions prior to release.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, audit findings, and quality documentation.
  • Support the design, setup, and continuous improvement of quality inspection workspaces, including tooling, layout, and standard work.
  • Partner with Operations and Industrial Engineering to ensure quality checks are integrated without disrupting flow.
  • Support partial automation and digitization of equipment testing documentation by validating outputs and data integrity.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, and quality reviews as required.
  • Reinforce quality discipline and accountability on the production floor.
  • Supports continuous improvement by following established processes, identifying inefficiencies or issues, and contributing to solutions that improve safety, quality, and productivity. Leverages available tools and technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, where appropriate to improve efficiency and streamline work.

Managerial Responsibility

  • This role has no direct reports.

Travel/Shift Requirements

  • Primary schedule is first shift OR primary schedule is 2nd shift.
  • Less than 10% travel required.

Physical Demands

  • Regular presence on the production floor and in inspection areas.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and observe work for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift or move materials up to 30 lbs. as required.
  • Use of inspection tools, fiber scopes, and cleaning equipment.
  • Flexibility to support varying shifts or surge periods as needed.

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Strong inspection, audit, and defect-detection capability.
  • Ability to enforce quality standards while maintaining productive relationships with Operations.
  • High attention to detail and strong documentation discipline.
  • Ability to identify systemic issues versus isolated defects.
  • Comfort working on the production floor in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to balance quality rigor with production throughput.
  • Clear communication and escalation skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset focused on prevention and repeatability.
  • Ability to work independently within defined quality authority.
  • Professional judgment to stop or hold work when required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 4–6 years of experience in quality inspection, auditing, or manufacturing quality roles.
