The role involves contributing to product teams, collaborating across disciplines, and using AI for product development in Square's 12-month program.
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Program
A full-time role with a 12-month rotational program designed to develop the next generation of AI-native product leaders. Associate Product Managers (APMs) join teams across Square to learn how modern product development works, with AI at the core, and to help shape the future of commerce.
This is not an entry-level job shadow. It's a launchpad for emerging product leaders who build with curiosity, move with speed, and use AI as an extension of their creative and technical capability. You'll work on real products used by millions, supported by mentorship, community, and a structure designed to accelerate your growth.
The Role
As an Associate Product Manager, you'll contribute directly to product teams tackling real-world challenges for Square's global sellers. You'll partner with engineering, design, research, data science, and AI teams to explore opportunities, define problems, prototype solutions, and ship impactful work.
Your rotations will expose you to diverse product surfaces, customer segments, and technical environments, from commerce and payments to AI-assisted workflows and experimental product spaces. APMs are expected to work as AI-native builders: rapidly prototyping with modern AI tools, using data and models to deepen insights, and applying AI assistants to extend your reach and velocity.
Every APM path is unique. Your background and strengths will help define your placements, while your initiative and perspective will shape the work you take on.
What You'll Get
APMs gain hands-on product experience at scale, exposure to the teams driving Square's AI strategy, and mentorship from leaders shaping the future of product development. You'll work in the open, contribute to real decisions, and see your ideas come to life in products used around the world. This is an opportunity to develop world-class PM craft while helping push the frontier of AI-enabled product building.
What You'll Bring:
We welcome a wide range of academic backgrounds and experiences. Prior product management experience is not required. What matters is your potential as an AI-native builder.
How To Apply:
We don't require a traditional portfolio. Instead, submit:
