The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the global accounting team based at the company’s corporate headquarters in Austin. This position will be responsible for the accounting of YETI’s long-lived assets, including both leased and fixed assets. The individual will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of YETI’s financial statements and supporting the continued growth of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end close responsibilities (journal entries, account reconciliations, reporting and analysis, etc.) for leases and fixed assets
- Ensure the company adheres to ASC 842 lease guidance, including accounting for new leases and modifications to existing leases.
- Responsible for ensuring YETI’s lease accounting software data is accurate and complete for YETI’s global lease portfolio
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle for fixed assets. Responsibilities include ensuring appropriate capitalization of expenditures, placing assets into service timely, assigning appropriate useful life, and executing monthly depreciation
- Perform annual impairment analysis for long-lived assets
- Perform monthly capitalization of internal labor and contract labor costs. Successful execution requires close partnership with IT and FP&A.
- Maintain company’s policies and procedures as it relates to lease accounting & fixed assets
- Effectively communicate the financial impacts of process changes to business partners (e.g. FP&A).
- Partner closely with internal business partners to support YETI’s growth initiatives. Key business partners include retail, operations, IT, facilities, legal and finance teams.
- Document and monitor internal controls over key financial processes and proactively partner with Internal Audit to improve the control environment
- Assist in coordination of quarterly and annual external audits, including preparing support for external audit
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field
- 4+ years of accounting experience with 2+ years of public accounting preferred
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls required
- Experience with SAP/BPC preferred. Major ERP experience required.
- Consumer product experience strongly preferred
- Passion for accuracy, details and organization required

- Able to drive process improvements that increase the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables
- Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to break down problems into critical components and influence others to drive actionable solutions
