A Little About Us 

Yahoo's Consumer Data team enables consumer data capabilities across Yahoo verticals. As a result, they can leverage advanced capabilities that any independent vertical could not buy or build cost effectively. The team has two focus areas: Domain Enablement, which publishes shared data as a product for use across multiple business units, and Data Activation, which creates outsized data leverage across business units. As the leader of the Data Activation team, you will be responsible for defining and executing the mission and vision for this product area. In addition, you will work closely with Data Science and Engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle to empower your team.

Ultimately, you are the expert on how products are designed, used, measured, improved, and generate business value. You support this expertise with a keen ability to break down large, complex problems into well-defined, manageable problems and an ability to use data to inform your judgment.

Your Day

  • Defining and driving data activation strategies that create measurable business impact across Yahoo verticals.

  • Identifying high-leverage opportunities to apply consumer data insights to drive growth, engagement, and monetization.

  • Identifying and implementing AI-driven efficiencies in the product lifecycle, including using generative AI tools to accelerate roadmap development and stakeholder communications.

  • Directing the team to replace manual or repetitive data analysis tasks with automated, AI-assisted workflows.

  • Aligning with cross-functional leaders to create high-velocity product execution.

  • Partnering with business units to understand their needs and translate data capabilities into business outcomes.

  • Setting the mission and vision for the Data Activation product area and defining a product strategy to achieve the vision.

  • Exercising judgment in when to rely on AI-generated consumer insights versus manual deep-dives to ensure data integrity and accuracy.

  • Building relationships with stakeholders across the organization to ensure data activation initiatives align with business priorities.

  • Creating an environment for your team to have a focus on solving customer problems through innovative technology.

  • Providing coaching and mentorship to grow and motivate a team of managers and senior managers.

You Must Have

  • 15+ years experience in a tech company in a related position (PM, Engineering, Project Mgmt, Technical Support, Technical Sales, Technical / Professional Services or Consulting, etc.).

  • Proven track record of leveraging data and analytics to drive business outcomes and create measurable impact.

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage modern AI tools to drive product impact, with experience influencing and coaching teams to adopt AI effectively in their workflows and decision-making.

  • Experience with prompt engineering or structured interaction with AI tools to synthesize complex consumer data requirements.

  • Deep understanding of data activation strategies including audience segmentation, personalization, targeting, and experimentation.

  • An ability to multitask, organize & lead complex projects, detail orientation, and be able to summarize.

  • Experience managing teams of product managers, specifically managing through other people managers (M6 level scope).

  • Experience delivering products using Agile / Scrum software development & Engineering practices.

  • Empower a product team and manage their performance through clear accountability.

  • Guide team members by providing coaching and mentoring at senior leadership levels.

  • Provide support to recruit talent for the organization and team.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think independently.

  • Exceptional listening and communication skills (written, verbal).

  • Media data expertise and understanding of consumer behavior patterns.

  • Strong business acumen with ability to translate technical capabilities into business value.

Nice To Have

  • Experience using industry-standard AI frameworks to explore and prototype AI-driven product features.

  • A mindset of continuous experimentation with emerging AI tools to increase organizational velocity.

  • SQL and data analysis skills.

  • Google Cloud Platform expertise.

  • Background in digital advertising, personalization, or recommendation systems.

  • Track record of building cross-functional partnerships and driving org-wide initiatives.

The compensation for this position ranges from $172,645.00 - $375,285.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
