Role Overview:

Could you be our next Sr. Director, Data Science - Actuarial? Globe Life is looking for a Sr. Director, Data Science - Actuarial to join the team!

In this role, you will be responsible for defining and executing enterprise-wide data science vision and strategy. This role leads a focused team of data science professionals with the mandate to scale the function as business needs evolve. The position collaborates closely with executive leadership across business units to identify high-impact opportunities and deliver measurable business value through innovative data science solutions. This role has significant organizational visibility and plays a key part in shaping data-driven strategic initiatives across the enterprise.

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, Texas (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and executes data science strategy aligned with business objectives and growth opportunities.
  • Partner with executives to identify and prioritize high-impact data science initiatives.
  • Establish data science standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for organizational scaling.
  • Lead strategic planning for team growth and capability expansion based on business needs.
  • Build and lead a high-performing data science team with plans for strategic expansion.
  • Develop organizational capability through strategic hiring, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Establish centers of excellence and promote knowledge sharing across data science communities.
  • Foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the data science function.
  • Drive advanced analytics initiatives including predictive modeling, machine learning, and automated decision systems.
  •  Establish key performance indicators to measure business impact and ROI of data science investments.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Oversee development of scalable analytics solutions that can grow with organizational needs.
  • Serve as primary data science advisor to executive leadership team across business functions.
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to translate strategic objectives into actionable roadmaps.
  • Manage stakeholder and partner relationships to drive innovation and capability development.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and business impact to executive audiences.

What You Can Bring:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data science, analytics, or related fields with demonstrated business impact.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing and developing data science teams.
  • Proven track record of scaling data science functions and leading organizational growth initiatives.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with ability to translate data insights into business strategy.
  • Advanced leadership skills including team development, change management, and executive influence.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and scaling data science functions from foundational to enterprise levels.
  • Deep expertise in advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data architecture, cloud platforms, and scalable analytics infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, model risk management, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to present complex technical concepts to executive audiences.
  • Strong business acumen including resource management, project prioritization, and strategic planning.
  • Proven track record of driving measurable business outcomes and demonstrating ROI from data science investments.
