Job Description

The Senior Growth Manager – Energy Transition Market Development is responsible for developing, scaling, and managing market-facing service offerings for distributed energy resources (DERs). This role operates similarly to a product manager for a service-based offering, owning the end-to-end lifecycle of solutions delivered by CLEAResult as a third-party program implementer.

This individual leads cross-functional teams to design, launch, and refine offerings grounded in a customer-centric approach, ensuring solutions are shaped by customer needs, market dynamics, and real-world application. This role prioritizes designing solutions from customer needs first, rather than adapting existing product constructs. This role also contributes to external positioning through thought leadership, industry engagement, and direct collaboration with customers to shape emerging solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Service / Product Management

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of one or more service offerings, including value proposition, target customers, service design, and pricing

  • Act as the central orchestrator across BD, Delivery, Engineering, and Technology

  • Translate customer and market insights into scalable service models and implementation approaches

  • Drive continuous improvement of existing offerings based on performance data, customer feedback, and evolving market conditions

Customer & Market Research

  • Lead customer discovery and market research to inform service design and prioritization

  • Synthesize insights from customers, partners, and market stakeholders into actionable recommendations

  • Translate research findings into externally consumable insights, including thought leadership content and client-facing materials

  • Ensure all offerings are developed from a customer-centric perspective, aligning solutions to real customer needs rather than predefined product constructs

New Solution Development & Pilots

  • Lead development of new service offerings and pilot programs in emerging DER use cases

  • Use customer and market insights to define pilot hypotheses, structure, and success metrics

  • Evaluate pilot outcomes and translate learnings into scaled, repeatable offerings

Market Development & Strategy

  • Develop market entry and growth strategies across regions and customer segments

  • Synthesize regulatory, market, and competitive insights into actionable recommendations

  • Support development of market-facing perspectives and narratives that position CLEAResult as a leader in energy transition

Solution Design & Sales Support

  • Lead solution development for proposals and RFPs, including program design, pricing, and performance assumptions

  • Ensure clear, differentiated, and customer-relevant value propositions are reflected in client-facing materials

Thought Leadership & Industry Engagement

  • Lead or contribute to thought leadership content, including white papers, presentations, and insights on emerging DER and energy transition topics

  • Represent CLEAResult at industry conferences, webinars, and events, presenting on market trends, solution design, and program innovation

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to shape market-facing narratives and points of view that support business development and brand positioning

  • Lead or support client-facing innovation sessions (e.g., innovation days, workshops) to identify new opportunities and co-develop solutions with customers

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed environment

  • Ensure alignment between customer needs, solution design, and delivery execution

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as an SME in DER-related solutions such as energy storage, virtual power plants, or energy market participation

  • Provide guidance on market design, risks, and regulatory dynamics

Experience & Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in energy, with focus on DERs, demand response, energy storage, or energy markets

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to develop and launch programs or services

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, energy systems, business, or related field

  • Strong understanding of utility program design and implementation

  • Experience conducting or leveraging customer and market research to inform solution development

  • Client-facing experience, including presentations and solution development

  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments

Preferred

  • Experience managing a service offering in a product management capacity

  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization

  • Familiarity with wholesale markets and DER participation models

  • Experience contributing to thought leadership, conference presentations, or client-facing workshops

  • Training or experience in:

    • Design thinking / human-centered design
