Lead the Events & Community team at Instrumentl, focusing on virtual and in-person events, digital community growth, and team leadership. Manage significant budgets and ensure ROI for initiatives.
👋Hello, we’re Instrumentl.
We’re a mission-driven startup helping the nonprofit sector to drive impact, and we’re well on our way to becoming the #1 most-loved grant discovery and management tool.
About us:
Instrumentl is a hyper growth YC-backed startup with over 4,000 nonprofit clients, from local homeless shelters to larger organizations like the San Diego Zoo and the University of Alaska. We are building the future of fundraising automation, helping nonprofits to discover, track, and manage grants efficiently through our SaaS platform.
Our charts are dramatically up-and-to-the-right 📈 — we’re cash flow positive and doubling year-over-year, with customers who love us (NPS is 65+ and Ellis PMF survey is 60+). Join us on this rocket ship to Mars!
The Role: We're looking for a Senior Manager to lead our Events & Community team, owning the strategy and execution of the programs that make Instrumentl the center of gravity for grant professionals. This is a player-coach role. You'll set the vision and manage a small team, but you'll also be hands-on: building new programs, optimizing existing channels, and partnering closely with Sales, Customer Success, and the rest of the Marketing team to drive measurable business outcomes.
You will have ownership of:
- Scale our virtual events program to 3x pipeline impact : Own content strategy, speaker recruitment, promotion, and post-event nurture, maintain quality and engagement as volume increases
- Conferences and Field Events: expand our in-person event footprint (conferences, dinners, regional meetups, hosted gatherings), partner with Sales to pilot more targeted, network-driven event formats, manage a $500,000+ events budget and 3x our presence in 2026, with clear ROI expectations, lead Instrumentl's presence at industry conferences (strategy, sponsorships, speaking opportunities, booth execution), and improve ROI tracking and post-conference follow-up in partnership with Sales and RevOps
- Digital Community: Launch and grow a digital community of practice for grant professionals, build the engagement loops, content programming, and moderation approach that make the community sticky, evolve community into a meaningful acquisition and retention channel over time
- Brand Ambassador Program: Design and pilot a structured program that turns Instrumentl power users into advocates, enable ambassadors to host local gatherings, create content, and extend our reach into hard-to-access networks, build the frameworks, incentives, and playbooks to scale grassroots advocacy
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop three direct reports (ECM Coordinator, ECM Manager, and one additional open role: Field Events Manager), build the team's capacity to execute at higher volume without sacrificing quality and make the case for additional headcount as programs scale
What we are looking for
- 8+ years in events, community, and field marketing, with at least 2–3 years managing a team
- Strong background in B2B SaaS or tech—you understand how events and community drive pipeline, not just brand
- Proven track record building and scaling virtual events and webinars
- Experience launching or growing a digital community (from scratch or early-stage)
- Comfortable managing significant budgets ($500k+) and measuring ROI
Skills and mindset
- Strategic and operational—you can set a vision and also execute the details
- Strong project manager who can run multiple programs in parallel without dropping balls
- Data-informed—you know how to measure what matters and optimize based on results
- Excellent cross-functional collaborator, especially with Sales and Customer Success
- Comfortable with ambiguity and 0→1 work; you've built programs before, not just inherited them
- Strong written and verbal communicator
Bonus if you have
- Experience in the nonprofit sector or familiarity with grant professionals
- Experience with affiliate or influencer partnership programs
- Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Join a mission-driven, product-led team that values curiosity, collaboration, and clear outcomes
- Work closely with leaders who believe in bold ideas, fast learning, and empowering people to do their best work
- Play a direct role in shaping the team and culture that will take Instrumentl to its next stage of growth
Compensation and Benefits
- For US-based candidates, our target salary band is $120,000 - $160,000 USD + equity.
- Salary decisions consider experience, location, and technical depth.
- 100% covered health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (50% for dependents)
- Generous PTO, including parental leave
- 401(k)
- Company laptop and home-office stipend
- Bi-Annual Company Retreats for in-person collaboration
