The Senior Manager – Capital & Indirect Procurement is responsible for leading sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management for capital projects, construction, engineering services, and select plant-related indirect categories across CH Guenther’s North American operations. The Senior Manager is a builder of work streams, processes, and capabilities Vs. the operator of a function.
This hands-on leader serves as the primary Procurement partner to Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams, ensuring capital investments and plant-related spend deliver optimal value across cost, quality, reliability, and timeline.
The position will also leverage CHG’s group purchasing organization (GPO) partners for applicable indirect categories, while owning sourcing strategy, MSA development, and execution for complex, high-value, or non-GPO spend areas.
This is a highly cross-functional, hands-on role requiring strong commercial acumen, technical understanding, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a diverse manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Capital Projects & Engineering Procurement (Primary Focus)

  • Lead sourcing, negotiation, and contracting for capital equipment, construction, and engineering services across manufacturing sites
  • Partner with Engineering and Project Management teams to support capital planning and execution
  • Evaluate supplier proposals, technical specifications, and statements of work to ensure best total value (cost, schedule, quality, risk)
  • Manage supplier selection, contract execution, and performance throughout project lifecycle
  • Mitigate risk related to scope changes, timelines, and supplier performance
  • Generate and execute master service agreements that optimize the Company’s interests

Plant Services & Strategic Indirect Procurement

  • Lead sourcing and supplier management for select plant-related categories (e.g., maintenance services, specialized MRO, pallets, and operational services)
  • Identify and execute cost savings and value improvement opportunities across assigned categories
  • Pursue independent sourcing strategies where appropriate

GPO Strategy & Spend Governance

  • Work with GPO partners to leverage pre-negotiated agreements where aligned to CHG needs
  • Drive adoption and compliance of GPO contracts across manufacturing sites
  • Identify gaps where GPO solutions are not optimal and lead alternative sourcing initiatives
  • Monitor off-contract spend and implement actions to reduce leakage

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships across capital and key indirect categories
  • Define and track supplier performance metrics (KPIs) including cost, service, quality, and delivery
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and cost reduction initiatives with suppliers

Procurement Excellence & Analytics:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Engineering, Operations, and Plant Leadership teams
  • Lead sourcing events (RFI/RFP/RFQ) for complex categories and projects
  • Conduct market analysis, supplier benchmarking, and cost modeling to support negotiations
  • Track and report realized savings and value delivery
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, processes, and risk management standards
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree desirable
  • 5-15 yrs experience in procurement or related field
  • Strong background in construction and equipment procurement

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other business software used for data analysis (SAP).
  • Broad understanding of capital equipment and construction industry
  • Contract law knowledge, with the ability to analyze statements of work, engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong negotiation skills with large purchases and complex technical specifications
  • Capable of independently managing multiple priorities, projects, and tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with proven track record of implementing/executing complex projects
  • Analytical skills and creative thinking

  • Primarily operates in a professional office environment with standard business equipment and technology.
  • Requires extended periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Occasionally required to lift and move materials weighing up to 15 pounds.

At C.H. Guenther, we value transparency in compensation. By providing the salary range for this role, we aim to promote fairness and help candidates make informed choices about their career. The salary range for this role is:

$95,938.00 - $178,010.00

Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location.
