As Sr Manager of Software Engineering, you will lead teams focused on building and evolving Cox Automotive's Common Vehicle Inventory (CVI) platform. You'll drive product delivery, team performance, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to develop and maintain the roadmap for CVI, ensuring alignment with business goals and enterprise strategy.
  • Champion process improvement and technical excellence, supporting teams in adopting best practices in software development, automation, and operational health.
  • Partner with Architecture, SRE, and other leaders to define and evolve technical direction, including modernization, scalability, and data integrity.

Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Manage, mentor, and develop software engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, growth, and collaboration.
  • Set clear expectations for performance and career development and actively support succession planning and talent mobility.

Product Delivery & Execution
  • Ensure successful delivery of CVI features and enhancements, meeting business objectives and timelines.
  • Collaborate with Product to clarify requirements, set priorities, and align engineering work with customer needs.
  • Support backlog refinement and sprint planning as a key engineering partner.

Technical Strategy & Collaboration
  • Promote best practices in code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Encourage innovation, including the use of AI and automation to improve engineering effectiveness.
  • Lead experimentation and transformation of Software Engineering teams and processes to become AI-first-moving beyond simply using AI tools to fundamentally reimagining how teams operate, deliver value, and leverage AI as a core capability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 8 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 6 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 3 years' experience in a related field; or 20 years' experience in a related field.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in engineering management.
  • Strong hands-on experience with .NET (C#) and/or Java in building, testing, and maintaining scalable applications.
  • Experience developing or integrating UI components, with exposure to modern front-end frameworks or libraries such asStencil UI or similar web component-based technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate across front-end and back-end layers to deliver cohesive, high-quality user experiences.
  • Proven success managing engineering teams (onshore and offshore) and delivering complex software products.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), microservices, and modern development practices.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with data-centric applications and a passion for driving business impact through technology.

USD 163,400.00 - 272,300.00
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $163,400.00 - $272,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
