Dow has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Sr. Market Development Manager supporting Dow’s Electronics & Semiconductor Markets (C&E). Preferred alignment is Virtual office in the West Coast Bay region. Will also consider Midland, MI or Houston, TX.
We are looking for a Senior Market Development Manager to spearhead new market development for our specialty chemical solutions in the consumer electronics, data center/server, and semiconductor industries. This North America–based role requires a global value chain perspective, focusing on specifier engagement (design engineers and other key influencers) to drive product design-in at target customers, and manage global value chain to maximize win. The Senior Market Developer will work cross-functionally to expand our market presence and accelerate growth in these strategic high-tech sectors.
Responsibilities
- Market Growth & Strategy: Identify and develop new business opportunities in the consumer electronics, data center/server, and semiconductor segments, formulating and executing strategies to expand market share in these areas. This includes mapping emerging growth areas (e.g. advanced electronics devices, data center components, semiconductor materials) and converting them into tangible revenue streams.
- Value Chain Engagement: Deep engagement with the whole electronics value chain in the region, including product design engineers, specifiers, technical influencers and other value chain participants & partners in target industries. Create demand pull, influence and secure the inclusion of our chemical materials (adhesives, coatings, etc.) in customer product specifications and new project design drawing. Act as a trusted advisor to key OEMs and contractors, demonstrating how our solutions meet technical requirements and add value to their products.
- Key Specifiers & Partner Management: Develop strategic partnerships with major brand owners, OEMs, and other value chain key players to win spec-in approvals for our products. Position Dow as “top of mind”/ preferred specialty material partner by Key Accounts. Manage and develop relationships with existing key accounts, focusing on increasing our “share of wallet” by introducing new applications for our materials. Leverage distributor networks and channel partners to accelerate entry into emerging markets and ensure broad coverage of the value chain.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product development, sales, and technical service teams to align our product offerings with market needs and customer specifications. Provide market feedback to guide innovation and tailor solutions for target segments, ensuring our product roadmaps and technical support align with customer requirements and industry trends.
- Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work closely with other regional teams in APAC Europe, India and Latin America, to synchronize on market/ customer opportunity progresses and bring business to transaction phase to other regions.
- Market Intelligence & Advocacy: Monitor market trends, peer activities and emerging technologies in relevant sectors. Translate these insights into actionable market development plans. Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and technical seminars, presenting our value proposition and building our reputation as a market leader in electronic materials. Develop thought leadership and contribute to industry standards or associations to strengthen the company’s influence and network.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting: Contribute to the formulation of global and regional go-to-market plans for the electronics and semiconductor business, ensuring North America strategies align with worldwide objectives. Set and meet growth targets (revenue, volume, margin) for the targeted segments and maintain a clear pipeline of market development projects. Regularly report on market development progress, forecast sales from new opportunities, and adjust strategies based on performance metrics and feedback.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material’s science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineer or related relevant degree in a Business or technical field or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.
- 10+ years relevant experience commercial (Technical/sales/marketing/ new business development) in consumer electronics and semiconductor industry
- This role requires a valid U.S. Driver’s license
- Prior customer engagement and business development experience
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in business/marketing
- Electronics industry technical background
- Experience with Key account management and/or value chain management
- Prior experience with cross cultural and cross functional work

- Business Development: Business development entails tasks and processes to develop and implement growth opportunities within and between organizations. It is a subset of the fields of business, commerce and organizational theory. Business development is the creation of long-term value for an organization from customers, markets, and relationships.
- Customer Engagement: Customer engagement is an interaction between an external consumer/customer (either B2C or B2B) and an organization (company or brand) through various online or offline channels.
- Results-Oriented: Result-Oriented is a term used to portray a person who focuses on results and achieves them.
- Business Acumen: Business acumen is keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with a "business situation" in a manner that is likely to lead to a good outcome. Additionally, business acumen has emerged as a vehicle for improving financial performance and leadership development. Consequently, several different types of strategies have developed around improving business acumen.
- Managing Ambiguity: Dealing with ambiguity refers to the ability to effectively cope with change and to comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
