DroneSense is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help us build, monitor and secure our drone software platform for first responders. As more firefighters and first responders rely on DroneSense to save lives, we need your expertise to ensure our systems are resilient, secure, and globally available.

What would I be doing?

  • Work alongside our engineering teams ensuring we have the tools needed to build, test, secure and deploy code
  • Design, build, and maintain high quality infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Maintain Kubernetes clusters, with a strong focus on Rancher-based management
  • Embed security and compliance frameworks (SOC2, CJIS, etc.) into platform design and operations
  • Monitor and manage systems in AWS, including RDS/DB operations, scaling and backupsImprove observability with monitoring, logging and alerting with tools such as OpenSearch and CloudWatch
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments
  • Design, build and maintain resilient and scalable server architectures
  • Manage authentication and authorization servers
  • Scripting - bash, Python, Go, etcCollaborate with developers and QA on workflows and deployments
  • Provide on-call support for international operations, ensuring reliability for our global customer base

Would I be a good match for this position?

  • You enjoy working closely with developers and also optimizing and automating  processes wherever possible. You also keep a strong focus on security and scalability, as well as monitoring and alerting.
  • 5+ years of experience building HA infrastructure on cloud hosted systems like AWS
  • 3+ years of experience working with and maintaining kubernetes
  • 3+ years of experience working with terraform5+ years experience with Linux CLI
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles and compliance frameworks Advanced knowledge of working with Rancher for Kubernetes cluster provisioning
  • Solid understanding of and experience working with AWS services (including Lambda, VPC, EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, ALB)
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash or Python
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Gitlab, Github Actions
  • Experience automating system configuration and provisioning (Terraform, AWS userdata, Cloudformation, Ansible, etc)
  • Experience with nginx
