About Thoughtful

Thoughtful is an AI company on a mission to eliminate administrative waste in healthcare. Our AI Agents independently complete complex, high-volume workflows across claims, billing, denials, prior authorizations, and more—unlocking massive gains in revenue, efficiency, and staff satisfaction for healthcare providers.

Our product team operates at the center of this transformation, architecting the agentic systems and workflows that power the future of healthcare automation.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the development and delivery of our Epic EHR integrations. Epic is the most widely-adopted hospital EHR in the US , and you will be at the forefront of connecting cutting-edge AI with Epic’s ecosystem. You’ll be responsible for deeply understanding both Epic’s constraints and our customer workflows, crafting elegant solutions that enable our AI Agents to operate seamlessly within Epic environments.

This role is perfect for a product leader who has either built on top of Epic or worked at Epic and knows how to navigate the technical, organizational, and compliance hurdles involved in making it all work. If you’re energized by solving deeply technical problems that matter, and if you want to help modernize healthcare through applied AI, let’s talk!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Epic Integration Strategy: Develop and drive the roadmap for Thoughtful’s Epic EHR integration capabilities. You’ll determine the best approach to seamlessly embed our AI Agents into Epic-driven workflows (e.g. scheduling, billing, claims) and navigate Epic’s integration frameworks (HL7v2 interfaces, FHIR APIs, App Orchard, etc.).
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with customers, engineers, and implementation teams to build and deliver integration features. Translate integration requirements into clear user stories and specifications – for example, defining how an AI Agent will pull patient billing data from Epic or write back claim status updates. Ensure development aligns with Epic’s technical guidelines and healthcare data standards.
  • Customer Collaboration: Serve as the product liaison for our healthcare provider clients during Epic integration projects. Engage with hospital IT departments and end users to understand site-specific Epic configurations and workflows. Your goal is smooth, timely go-lives that delight customers.
  • Interoperability & Compliance: Stay on top of healthcare interoperability standards and regulations. Incorporate HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA best practices into product design. Work with our security and compliance team to ensure integrations maintain patient privacy and data security. Proactively identify and mitigate any compliance or data mapping issues that could arise when connecting to hospital systems .
  • Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback from users and stakeholders on our Epic integration performance. Define metrics for integration success (e.g. reduction in manual data entry, time saved per task, reduction in time to deployment). Use data and user insights to prioritize enhancements or new features – whether it’s building a more robust interface engine or adding support for additional Epic modules (like Resolute billing or Cadence scheduling). You will also keep an eye on emerging Epic integration capabilities (new APIs, version updates) and adjust our strategy accordingly.
  • Thought Leadership: Educate and mentor fellow team members on integration considerations and best practices. Interface with technical representatives or user group communities as needed to advocate for our integration needs and stay ahead of changes.
What You’ll Do
  • Own the full product lifecycle for our Epic integration efforts—setting vision, defining strategy, and executing with urgency.
  • Deeply understand Epic’s technical stack, interface limitations, and workflow idiosyncrasies—becoming the go-to voice on how to build effectively on top of it.
  • Partner closely with customer teams, their Epic counterparts, and engineers to define and validate high-impact integration opportunities that solve real operational pain.
  • Translate requirements into specs, user stories, and clear success criteria that enable reliable and scalable delivery.
  • Navigate tradeoffs with engineering and solution teams, balancing ideal product experience with the realities of developing software to integration with Epic.
  • Communicate clearly and often, aligning stakeholders, closing feedback loops, and surfacing risks early.
  • Continuously iterate on our integration architecture and strategy as Epic evolves and as customer needs grow more sophisticated.
What You Bring
  • 5–8+ years of product management experience in B2B, SaaS, infrastructure, or automation environments.
  • Fluency in technical concepts you can speak API, HL7, FHIR, data mapping, and system architecture confidently, and you’re comfortable in healthcare IT discussions.
  • Track record of shipping complex products in constrained environments, with high reliability requirements.
  • Customer-first mindset you understand and care deeply about the operational realities of healthcare users.
  • Strong execution and ownership you manage ambiguity well, make hard calls, and always drive toward outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills capable of aligning cross-functional stakeholders and customers alike.
  • High ownership, bias toward action, and ability to thrive in ambiguity.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with revenue cycle management (RCM) or clinical workflows.
  • Experience working with healthcare interoperability standards (e.g. HL7v2, FHIR, SMART on FHIR).
  • Background in intelligent automation, agents, or AI-powered tools.
  • Familiarity with Epic App Orchard or hospital implementation processes.
Why Thoughtful
  • Join a category-defining company transforming healthcare through applied AI.
  • Work alongside high-performing teammates who value ownership, velocity, and outcomes.
  • Competitive compensation and meaningful equity.

Full healthcare benefits and minimum three weeks PTO—we expect you to unplug.
