Freese and Nichols is looking for Sr. Project Manager – Transportation (TxDOT) in Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Frisco, Harlingen, Lubbock, San Antonio, or San Marcos, Texas. As Sr. Project Manager, you will build and maintain TxDOT client relationships, lead pursuits, and deliver transportation design projects as a seller-doer.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and strengthen TxDOT relationships that position you to identify, shape, and win work

  • Lead TxDOT pursuits, including teaming strategy, SOQs, proposals, interviews, and win plans

  • Manage TxDOT transportation design projects from kickoff through delivery, coordinating internal teams and subconsultants

  • Develop scopes, schedules, and fees that align to TxDOT requirements and client expectations

  • Provide technical direction and quality oversight to ensure accurate, consistent deliverables

  • Navigate TxDOT processes and compliance requirements to keep projects on track

  • Mentor and develop staff to grow delivery capacity and strengthen TxDOT-facing expertise

  • Partner with transportation leadership to expand presence in key Texas markets

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE)

  • 8+ years of experience, including experience making independent decisions on engineering problems and methods

  • Experience leading transportation design projects for TxDOT or TxDOT-focused clients

  • Ability to lead pursuit-to-delivery work, including client engagement, team coordination, and deliverable quality

Preferred
  • Established TxDOT relationships and a track record of winning transportation work

  • TxDOT-related pre-certifications aligned to transportation design services

  • Experience serving as project manager for large, complex transportation projects

  • Experience with TxDOT procurement practices, contracting approaches, and selection processes

  • Active participation in professional organizations and continuing education
