UFG is looking for experienced candidates striving to make a difference at a growing, innovative company as a Sr. Reinsurance Actuarial Analyst. Within the Actuarial Department, you’ll have the opportunity to develop significant expertise and ownership. The ideal candidate in this role will have strong technical skills, demonstrated critical thinking, and an ability to effectively communicate and partner with technical and non-technical partners. In this position, you will collaborate with underwriting, CAT modeling, and claims counterparts to drive profitable growth in our Alternative Distribution segment through the pricing of its Assumed Re book of business. This role is part of the Actuarial Student Program at UFG and is eligible for exam support through study hours and financial benefits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform pricing reviews for new and renewal reinsurance business to support the UFG growth plan, including:
- Work with underwriters to develop timely and accurate pricing analyses and recommendations.
- Assist in the maintenance of best-in-class experience and exposure rating tools for the business, including parameter updates.
- Assist with premium forecasting in support of the quarterly reserving process.
Job Specifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field
- Progressing towards a designation (ACAS/FCAS) in the Casualty Actuarial Society; 4+ exams including MAS-I or MAS-II
Experience/Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in an actuarial role; Reinsurance pricing experience preferred.
- Strong technical skills. Proficiency with SQL, Python and/or R a plus.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with pricing tools at a large reinsurance company or broker is a plus
- Knowledge of R, Python, SQL and data visualization software a plus
Working Conditions:
- This role is eligible for Remote or Hybrid work arrangement. General office environment.
Pay Transparency Statement:
UFG Insurance is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $103,000 - $136,000 annually, which represents the typical range for new hires in this role. Individual pay within this range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, internal equity, geography and market data.
