PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Austin, TX

Job Duties: Design and develop cloud technology roadmaps, providing technical advice and solutions to address customer requirements. Implement and manage technology-based business solutions based on Cloud Services to improve PayPal clients’ delivery approach.  Identify business requirements related to processes and technology. Support the technical design process by participating in the analysis of technical requirements. Build, maintain, and optimize continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to enable efficient software deployment and testing across multiple environments. Manage cloud infrastructure by provisioning, scaling, and maintaining resources to support application and system needs. Collaborate with cross-functional development, operations, and engineering teams to integrate new features, resolve technical issues, and ensure system stability and high availability. Analyze and implement configuration changes and assist in the design of cloud related solutions to meet both functional and technical requirements. Standardize and automate infrastructure deployment and management activities. Participate in execution and documentation of cloud implementations. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1.              Experience with code management system including GitHub and support CI/CD workflows (3 years).

2.              Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and experience provisioning, configuring, and managing cloud resources (3 years).

3.              Experience programming and scripting using languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash to support automation, application development, and system integration (3 years).

4.              Experience developing and maintaining scripts using Shell and Groovy on Linux-based systems to automate system operations, deployment processes, and routine maintenance tasks (3 years).

5.              Experience with continuous deployment tools including Jenkins (2 years).

6.              Experience containerizing and managing applications using Docker, and managing container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS (2 years).

7.              Experience monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting distributed systems using observability tools such as Datadog or Splunk (2 years).

8.              Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Cloud formation, or AWS CDK (2 years).

9.              Experience writing technical design documentation using the following tools: Miro, Mermaid, or Confluence (2 years).

10.           Experience designing and consuming APIs, like REST or GraphQL, to enable communication between distributed services (1 year).

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is: 

Primary Location | Pay Range: 

Austin, TX | Salary: $139,152.00- 273,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
