We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

This job delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). It involves advising management on project-level issues, guiding junior engineers, operating with little supervision, and applying knowledge of technical best practices.

• Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations), based on definitions from more senior roles.
• Advises immediate management on project-level issues
• Guides junior engineers
• Operates with little day-to-day supervision, making technical decisions based on knowledge of internal conventions and industry best practices
• Applies knowledge of technical best practices in making decisions

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

You’ll design, develop, and optimize high-performance Android applications that deliver seamless, intuitive experiences to customers around the world. In this role, you’ll lead complex mobile initiatives, collaborate with product and design leadership to shape PayPal’s mobile strategy, and architect scalable, reliable solutions that meet global business needs. You’ll champion technical excellence and best practices across the engineering organization, mentor other developers, and stay at the forefront of emerging mobile technologies to ensure PayPal continues to set the standard for secure, world-class mobile experiences.

• Expert proficiency in Kotlin, with deep understanding of Android SDK, frameworks, and modern mobile development practices.

• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design principles, coding standards, and testing patterns to ensure maintainable, high-quality code.

• Proven ability to design and build scalable, reliable, and maintainable mobile systems that meet performance and usability goals.

• Experience integrating with SQL and NoSQL databases, and familiarity with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate or JPA.

• Hands-on experience with mobile performance optimization, testing frameworks, and integration practices.

• Familiarity with continuous integration tools (Jenkins), application monitoring (Crashlytics, Fabric), and automated testing tools (Appium, Cucumber).

• Knowledge of mobile security best practices, including data protection, encryption, and secure network communication.

• Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
