The anticipated salary range for this position is $74,900 - $139,100 annual. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.

Senior HRIS Analyst – Compensation & Payroll (Workday)

Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Director, HR Technology

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior HRIS Analyst – Compensation & Payroll is responsible for the configuration, administration, and ongoing optimization of Workday Compensation and Payroll modules, including Advanced Compensation. This role serves as a functional subject matter expert supporting all compensation and payroll cyclical events and plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and scalable solutions aligned with business and Total Rewards strategies.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on Workday experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex compensation and payroll requirements into effective system configurations. This role partners closely with Compensation, Payroll, HR Operations, Finance, and IT to support annual, quarterly, and ad hoc processes while maintaining data integrity and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as the primary functional subject matter expert for Workday Compensation, Advanced Compensation, and Payroll modules.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize compensation and payroll-related Workday business processes, eligibility rules, calculations, and security.
  • Demonstrate strong end-to-end Workday ecosystem knowledge, with the ability to assess upstream and downstream impacts of position management, job and organizational changes, requisitions, and recruiting activities on compensation and payroll configuration, calculations, and processing.
  • Support all compensation and payroll cyclical events, including but not limited to:
    • Annual and off-cycle Compensation Planning
    • Short-Term Incentive (STI) and Long-Term Incentive (LTI) plan administration
    • Merit, bonus, and equity planning configuration
    • Payroll processing, audits, and year-end activities
  • Partner with Compensation and Payroll teams to design and implement compensation plans, guidelines, budgets, and eligibility logic within Workday.
  • Support end-to-end compensation planning cycles including system configuration, testing, production support, issue resolution, and post-cycle audits.
  • Configure and maintain advanced compensation plans, bonus plans, allowance plans, and related calculations.
  • Support payroll configuration, including earnings, deductions, taxes, retro processing, payroll inputs, and integrations with downstream systems.
  • Perform impact analysis for compensation and payroll changes, including regulatory, policy, or business-driven updates.
  • Build, maintain, and validate Workday reports, dashboards, and calculated fields related to compensation and payroll data.
  • Conduct data audits and reconciliation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment between Workday, payroll outputs, and financial systems.
  • Support testing efforts for new releases, enhancements, and configuration changes, including unit, regression, and parallel testing.
  • Partner with HR Operations, Finance, and IT on integrations, data flows, and cross-functional initiatives impacting compensation and payroll.
  • Document configurations, processes, and procedures to support knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
  • Stay current on Workday releases, compensation and payroll best practices, and regulatory changes impacting pay and payroll administration.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Support mergers, acquisitions, or reorganizations impacting compensation and payroll structures, including data mapping, configuration, and testing.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency, user experience, and data quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of hands-on Workday experience with strong functional ownership of:
    • Compensation
    • Advanced Compensation
    • Payroll
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise compensation planning cycles and payroll processing in Workday.
  • Proven experience configuring incentive plans (STI/LTI), merit cycles, and off-cycle compensation events.
  • Experience supporting payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance activities.
  • Strong experience with Workday reporting, calculated fields, business process framework, and security related to compensation and payroll data.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience supporting multi-country or complex payroll environments.
  • Experience supporting organizational changes, acquisitions, or system transformations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Deep functional knowledge of compensation and payroll processes and Workday configuration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple cyclical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Ability to communicate complex system concepts clearly to non-technical partners.
  • Strong collaboration skills across Compensation, Payroll, HR, Finance, and IT teams.
  • High level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive compensation and payroll data.
